Tayler Mayer Got YouTube?
By Tayler Mayer on Saturday, October 14th, 2006
If you enjoy viewing vlogs, especially those in sign language, DeafRead Video is for you. Currently in beta, it may work or may not work. This page grabs videos from YouTube for the users shown in the menu. Choose a name from the menu, and the page will automatically reload. If it doesn’t, click “Go”.
Of course, if you’ve got a YouTube account, add it. New usernames are pending approval. Please be patient. ![]()

What about Google Video? I prefer Google Video because I can upload subtitles to my vlog entries.

Banjo, thanks for the feedback. Someone’s already asked for this. I promised I would look into it.

Additionally, Google recently purchased YouTube. As I understand it, Google will be allowing YouTube to preserve its brand. How far this goes is the question. But I’m sure Google will press the YouTube “division” to add the captioning feature, as it’s important for companies to be as accommodating as can be.
For those with only Google Video accounts: because of the recent purchase, I expect both sites to share videos, meaning Google account holders’ should eventually work on DeafRead Video without any changes on my end.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I did hear about Google buying YouTube out for $1.6 billion, a large sum I would say especially when YouTube was founded in 2005. Didn’t really take them a long time to get bought out for nearly 2 billion dollars.
Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if the YouTube division add support for captions soon. Though, I do hope that both will be sharing video.
