A tribute to the UNITY FOR GALLAUDET protestors and supporters...
History Repeats Itself, Doesn't It?
Colonists fighting for independence, regardless of scares
With the goal to succeed
Oozing battle blood
Shedding tears
Alas, no dignity dragged through mud
Standing strong and proud with cares
As a new country in the making was theirs.
African-Americans fighting for rights
Encountering unequality and constant fights
Oozing whipping blood
Shedding tears
Alas, no dignity dragged through the mud
Standing strong and proud with cares
As a civil rights movement was moving to new heights.
Gallaudet-Deaf Community fighting for cultural acceptance, respect, and recognition
Facing unnecessary administrative opposition
Oozing oppressive blood
Shedding tears
Alas, no dignity dragged through the mud
Standing strong and proud with cares
As a cultural group preserving tradition.

(Note by Jenny: Stace commented to me that this was the first poetic inspiration she had had in years. Wow. It is beautiful. When inspiration hits, it sure hits BIG. Grin.)
