Pepe C. has left a new comment on your post "Letter Template to Lynn Woolsey, CA Representative and Gally BoT member":
FYI They count e-mails and letters the same. They RESPOND to paper letters and not much to e-mail but they ALWAYS track e-mails, the House tracking system is built to track both e-mails and paper mail and categorize them by issue and date so if you can do BOTH!

Letter to Hon. Lynn Woolsey

FOR CALIFORNIANS ONLY... (Woolsey is a representative for California and an open member of the Board of Trustees)

You need to go into the honorable lynn woolsey's website to get her email address.

The Honorable Lynn Woolsey, Trustee
http://www.woolsey.house.gov/

SEND this letter via email or send to her through the post office!!! ((Editorial note: Mailing letters through the post office is far more effective. Congressional staff will count how many paper letters they receive on an issue - they do not always count e-mails.))

THE MORE LETTERS THAT WOOLSEY GETS - THE BETTER!!! we need to wake her up and get her to see our side and support UNITY FOR GALLAUDET!!

October 2006

Dear Honorable Lynn Woolsey,

I write to you today as our representative for California and as an open member of the Board of Trustees at Gallaudet University. I plead with you to step in and make changes happen at Gallaudet University.

I, along with scores of others in the deaf community throughout the nation and the world, have been keeping close track of the protest at Gallaudet University in Washington DC. Gallaudet holds a very special place in our hearts; therefore it is an emotionally wrenching time for many of us.

The protest is asking for two things to happen:
1). Dr. Jane Fernandes must resign as the 9th president of Gallaudet University and the presidential search must be re-opened.

2). No reprisals be given to any faculty, staff, or student for being a part of this protest.

Countless letters have been sent from people all over the world to Gallaudet. Petitions have been signed by the thousands. Formal letters from national organizations such as the National Association of the Deaf and the Gallaudet University Alumni Association were sent. Resolutions were drafted. Rallies have been held throughout the country and the world.

All have expressed their disappointment at the Board of Trustees’ lack of understanding of the deep resentment of the selection process leading to the appointment of Dr. Jane Fernandes for the most visible position within the deaf community, and their lack of confidence in her to lead Gallaudet. She may seem qualified on paper, but she does not possess the qualifications of a leader.

The university’s Faculty and Senate in addition to the Student Assembly of Gallaudet’s Student Body Government have taken official votes declaring its lack of confidence in Dr. Fernandes as the next president of Gallaudet.

In addition, the larger Gallaudet community and the Deaf people throughout the world have also declared a vote of "No Confidence" in Dr. Fernandes ability to lead. With these declarations, it is clear that the community does not agree with the Board of Trustees’ decision. Dr. Fernandes is the wrong choice for the position of Gallaudet University's president. She is the wrong choice for the position because she would not be able to properly represent the community that Gallaudet stands for and serves.

To close, I plead of you, as an open member of the Board of Trustees at Gallaudet University. You can help restore our beloved Gallaudet. If you truly care about Gallaudet, you will respectfully meet the students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community’s two demands thus allowing for healing to finally begin.

Sincerely,
(Your Name)
(Your Address)

I guess this opens a loophole for Gally Admin because reprisals can be given to alummi and visitors for being a part of this protest by filing trespressing charges against them for being on the campus and protesting. Please close this loophole!!

thanks for bringing this to light :o) when we wrote these templates - we were trying to stick to facts brought up by the FSSA but i appreciate your input. i agree, after hearing that tim rarus was charged while others weren't (i still have yet to confirm this rumor for myself) it brought up some questions!

hope this is brought up to the FSSA's attention regarding their demands.
