I was astounded to receive your email letter sent out to Alumni,

asking for help. Have you forgotten right after you became the

FIRST deaf president, you fired me for NO reason? Therefore

why don’t you fire JF for GOOD reason?

  1. Frances Parson was the reason we protested at Maryland School for the Deaf back in 1969. She was rubbed my our school principal and we objected. Today she is back grieving IKJ. Good for her!

  2. wow, now you *can’t* say that one is about ASL-elitism or somesuch.

    frances parsons was the “ambassador of simcom” and she travelled all over the world, teaching deaf schools to switch to simcom instead of voice-off signing or sign-off voicing. her language planning views fit right in to gallaudet’s current “communication statement” - sign communication = ASL = a mishmosh of signing (including SEE, simcom, and other non-language systems)

    point being, i doubt that ms. parsons is likely to take umbrage with the signing used by ijk or jkf. this is not about ASL for her. this is about poor management decisions, including poor treatment of faculty and staff.

  3. I always look her up when she travels around the world… I met her in Paris three years ago. She was so wonderful when she gave a speech about Gally students who were in Phillippines. She pushed me to go overseas. There was no fund at that time. I have always admired her. Whats wrong with IKJ? I would have hired Frances my provost if I were IKJ… IKJ will NEVER be with us anymore. We will remove his name from SAC. Why did he name after himself? His own wife was honored at Art Building???? What s wrong with Debbie Sonnenstrahl? She is too deaf? Thanks Frances for helping all of us around the world. Blessed your heart… xxoo 75 er

  4. Washburn from 1866 - 1965?..He is Deaf! Why Linda Jordan is honored at the Art Building? That is very disgusted and very dishonored for removing Washburn who himself is DEAF and Art professor!! Linda is HEARING…does Not use ASL…not being immersed to the Deaf community at Gallaudet. Sad to hear how hyprocite IKJ is. Do not remove “Washburn” Art Department and change Gallery from Linda Jordan to Deborah Sonnenstrahl, Debbie deserves that!
