Truly National News? Yes! Here's the Proof!
While waiting for my flight at the Indianapolis airport, I noticed on the opposite side from my gate a news bar with a lot of news monitors displaying different stuff. Beneath these monitors was a huge scrolling news ticker board.
To my surprise, it scrolled "Gallaudet U. students continue their blockade to protest their new incoming president."
Whoa, news of our stand are being heard by all walks of life!
(...Flying south to a stopover in Atlanta...)
Walked over to the gate where I wait for my connecting flight to National. I decided to sit in the waiting area near a thin plasma ceiling-hung TV set to the CNN channel. It was playing Headline Prime program with a scrolling news ticker on the bottom.
I was really awed when I saw (cross my heart) it spell out (if my poor memory serves me right) "Gallaudet University continues its campus lockdown for the second day to protest its incoming president who the students believe lack the skills to lead the Deaf and the (sic) hearing-impaired."
When one says to you, "We went national", you would think it simply meant that the news appeared on the Washington Post newspaper, a few TV news channels, and so forth.
But we are truly at the national level when our news are shown to every single soul across America, in every possible location: from living rooms to public displays in huge airports!
Therefore, it is now time for us to begin our pilgrimage to our Mecca...where our values and heritage are protected by our faculty, students, staff, and alumni who are in severe need of our help.
Come to Gallaudet, show your Unity for Gallaudet where it really counts.
Jay
(...shoot, I still have about a hour left to kill...Let's hope for the news ticker to scroll "The Gallaudet Presidential Search has been reopened and the FSSA and Gallaudet returns to normalcy with no reprisals!" Cross your fingers!)
