Jordan Allegedly Closed The Cafeteria, But It’s Now Open

>From a student:

QUOTE:

Yes this is true [that the cafeteria was closed for a time], I was one
of them. This morning around 8 30 am I went to cafeteria and it was
closed. all lights off. The sign was posted, saying cafeteria closed…
Then I walked back and saw the sign posted at Benson hall that said
8:30 cafeteria open.. I went back to cafeteria and it was 9am… And
people and I were waiting for cafe to open because I was informed from
other people that now workers got in the cafeteria and were now
cooking, so it might take longer… But later I spoke to a protest
leader
about this Cafeteria issue. She told me that she did tell I King Jordan
about the cafeteria being closed. “We need to eat, we paid for it and
there are students that need to eat for medical reasons.” He was like
*shrugs* and said: “Your fault, you started the protest, so no food”…
There are students that are neutral and it is not their fault that they
can’t eat…

THAT DOES SHOW that I KING JORDAN DOESN’T care ABOUT US!!!

period….

When the leader told him that there are students that have diabetes or
other health conditions who need to eat.. ALL I King Jordan did is say:
“Oh
well, have them go to SHS (health/medical center)..” That’s not the
answer.. AGAIN, he DOESNT care about our health or us!… How can he do
this to US!!!???

UNQUOTE

From the pager of a protester. I am unable to verify Jordan’s role, but I’ve also received complaints about the cafeteria  being closed by two other protesters. elizabeth

P.S.   Apparently this part is true : “Jordan replied, “They can go to SHS.” As reported by Elisa in her blog, gallaudet protests » Blog Archive » This Morning @ the Front Gate.   elizabeth

  6. I don’t understand the complaint. The protestors closed the campus, declared they were taking over from Jordan, so OF COURSE the cafeteria is closed. They took over their institution - they expect the deposed administration to feed them??? Get real! The protestors should have thought of this and planned for it. If they are going to take over the university they need to be prepared to deal with the consequences. Are they so helpless they don’t know how to go to the store, buy some food, and cook it themselves?

The protesters look like pampered cry-babies.

  7. OH, NON-protesters…

do not you realize that protesters did mean well that they want the cafe to keep open for those health concerns but JORDAN KING was the one who told Cafe employees not to come
but PROTESTERS did good job to demand that cafe be opened….

    Hey, NON-Protesters read carefully.

  8. It is time for cooler heads to take over and for the administration to reachout and show that they can lead. Being more oppressive, by cutting off the food, just makes things worst and gives the protest more fuel and justification. Cutting off the food and getting someone hurt in the process is not the way to go. This is the time for true leadership not a dictatorship.

God Bless both sides in this matter!

  9. Oh, please come on… use your brain to recognize what has been going on? It was so cleeeear that there has been a strong audism going on at Gally. That was the result of what has been going on there. It isn’t about these protesters making statements, it’s about the whole idea of how Jane F. run its institution… it’s apparently that she couldn’t dissolve these crisis and therefore, we need to find someone else who can take it up on her/his shoulder and hear their problem! Obviously, she couldn’t take it at all… a sign of a coward!!

  10. this is not about j king this is all about what kind of deaf person the new directory of the gallaudet i can see they want a full blood deaf person that is just like a family of deaf she was not born deaf and she not a deaf person in their lifes at that time she later become deaf and not social in the deaf world so she is not part of the deaf choice which they have left out what is the most important is that gallaudet needs the best one not the deaf one or the hearing one so they just have one mind is that want their deaf that come from deaf schools growing up with deaf i can see that just like black want a black deaf want a deaf but not full enought o be deaf to be in their lifes and i still do not agree with the protesting they need to sit down and talk again why why why they not want her must be a good point not about deaf but about qualifty skill and knowledge how to handle the deaf community and studnets that it

  11. Charles, if this is all about her being Not Deaf Enough, I wouldn’t be in the protest as I grew up oral, too, having learned sign language at college. The real issues fueling this protest are a flawed presidential candidate procedure and Fernandes’ ineffectual leadership.
