Open Letter from Nora Yates, Alumna

NOW is the time!

like many of you, i'm sad, hurt, pissed off, ANGRY, n' DISAPPOINTED in the adminstration for not meeting gally's FSSA's two very reasonable & simple demands! i still don't understand why it hasn't happened yet?!

NOW is the time for the bot, i. king jordan & jane k. fernandes to LISTEN to us with open hearts and minds. NOW is the time for jane k. fernandes to do what is right for herself & for all of us, the deaf people, and that is to RESIGN, because NOW is the time for some REAL changes. NOW is the time for gallaudet to re-define itself, because NOW is the time for deaf people to be known as REAL people with REAL passion for life, REAL thoughts & feelings, REAL ideas, REAL culture, REAL language, & REAL everything - rather than just deaf people. we know we're MUCH more than that. NOW is the time for the betterment of gallaudet and for the deaf community as a whole.

ikj & jkf, NOW is the time for you to let us go so we can finally be free of audism, oppression & all the negativity.
NOW is the time for us to fly.
