Endless Pondering

Power Behind Throne

Last night I had a fascinating talk with a good friend of mine, who was a former employee at Gally and knows a lot of what is inside Gally and how Gally operates, through videoconferencing.  He said that Paul Kelly, VP for Finance is actually the power behind the throne.  IKJ and JF rely hevily on him for his legal advices because he is an attorney himself.  Regarding a recent “Earth Juice” incident, my friend fingerpointed Paul because the Maintenance Department is under Paul’s jurisdiction.  Regarding the administration’s threat to cancel business contract with SBG, he fingerpointed Paul Kelly again because Paul is responsible for handling the SBG appropriation.  Regarding the Expressive Guideline policy implemented last summer, he fingerpointed Paul again because Paul is a attorney who needs to know what’s happening beforehand to determine whether it would take a toll of his financing management. We must make sure that Paul Kelly goes, too.

  1. Of course Paul Kelly will go, whenever a new president comes in, he or she brings in a completely new loyal staff. UNLESS Jane wants to keep him but I doubt she would keep him.
I seriously think we need more DEAF administrators! We can’t even find any qualified Deaf people who WANT to lead Gallaudet in the Pres and VP and Provost positions!

  2. Pepe C,
I am trying to figure out what you meant by “UNLESS Jane…she wants to keep him but….” Are you telling us what? Oh right, Dr. Jane K. Fernandes, who apparently has no one else to tout her $750K directive, will be the 9th President, is that what you meant? Oh, who assisted her in performing her self-touting $750K debut in http://www.9thprez.com? Paul Kelly? I am not sure if she will bring in “a completely new … staff” after all she has only President Jordan to report in her entire employment at Gallaudet University. I don’t know…. Gallaudet University just needs new blood to breed.

  5. Mishka Zena, someone the night before you posted this shared that PeopleSoft, a $40 million investment for GU, was a total flop. Most businesses and universities would’ve fired the supervising administrator just like that.

    But not Paul Kelly.
