Communique

From: The Faculty Student Staff Alumni Coalition of Gallaudet Univeresity
To: The Gallaudet University Board of Trustees

Re: Reiterating out Demands

The Faculty Staff Student Alumni Coalition of Gallaudet University wishes to applaud the Board of Trustees for making the very important decision of cancelling the agenda planned for this morning so that members of the board would be able to enter a private session to discuss the present crisis at Gallaudet University.

While we greatly appreciate your attention to this ongoing issue, we regret to inform you that the offer to negotiate on the basis of the Board making arrangements for an independent assessment of the crisis is no longer on the table. There remains no doubt that the current administration which is willing to put the safety of our students at risk (as shown by this morning's violence which included aggressive measures by University personnel including utilizing pepper spray and assault on students) is not fit to lead our university.

We wish to reiterate our demands at this time. They are:

*Reopen the Presidential Search Process with the removal of the current Present-Select and
*No reprisals for faculty, students, staff, and/or alumni who have been involved with the protest since May 2006.

We firmly stand by those demands and will continue our protest should you decide not to meet those demands.

The future of Gallaudet University, the heart of our community, is at stake here.

With best wishes for a time of healing,

The Faculty, Students, Staff, and Alumni of Gallaudet University
