| | Last night, protestors gathered and took over HMB -- locked the doors from inside and only allowed one door to be accessible for protestors only. This morning, a student found out that news reporters were not being allowed into campus because of a supposed bomb threat. She ran over there, talked with the reporters... until she got a page saying that students were getting hurt at HMB. The student told the reporters, "there's many of you and few of DPS officers, just go in!" and the reporters swarmed into campus. So many things happened in this building when the DPS officers broke their way in. A student's shirt was ripped, another was given a choke hold, many got pushed and shoved. A student came up to a officer and said, "This is a peaceful protest." and got her arm twisted by the officer. You can get all the details of DPS's rampage at Jesse Thomas's blog. BisonTV filmed the whole thing, so they will have it up soon at www.bisontv.com. ALSO - the DPS officers, according to an interpreter who heard what their walkie talkies said, have been authorized to use mace on the protestors. And a student has already been maced, on the back of her head. It's burning right now, she tells me. (red mark above her ear)
The bomb threat thing is really weird. Last spring, on graduation day, the administration claimed that someone phoned in a bomb threat. No one from FSSA or its supporters had called it in. So it was weird... but then, another bomb threat was reported today? Some people here are questioning whether it is a tactic used by the administration in order to get everyone out of buildings. However -- the DPS officers did not even mention a bomb threat to students, they just barged in without communication. As of 10:19 AM, protestors still own HMB. DC police are outside of the building, many students are blocking all the entrances... |
