SBG Office @ 4:21 a.m.

I tried to sleep in the little room, a closet, really, that the Rainbow Society AND the BDSU shares, way in the back of the SBG offices. There's a swinging door leading to a tiny hallway that ends in a 5-step staircase that leads to.... a wall.
Nice office space the SBG has, huh? One of the three rooms that this hallway leads so was supposed to be my bedroom, but alas I could not sleep at all.

It's 8:07 a.m. and its cold, it's rainy but we're not giving up. The alumni just met with part of the Board met, and the alumni's impression of Tom Humphries was very condescending, with that, "You don't know anything, you'll understand when you're older." It seems that we MAY have succeeded in causing a division within the board.

9:29 a.m.

I'd planned to write a detailed summary of last night's proceedings - locking down the Hall Memorial Building and all that, but so much has happened in the last hour and a half - since 8:07 - that I'm going to jump ahead and explain the brutality of the DPS' officers this morning. Just as I typed, "...within the board," someone ran in like a monkey with a tail on fire and started sign-screaming that DPS had broken through! I ran like crazy down the South hallway and there he was. Bubba, a 6'4" 300 pound security guard was barging down the hallway with students trying to get in front of him. I stood in front of him and he threw a vicious elbow and I slammed down on the ground. I immediately got up and ran back in front of him and literally lay down on the ground. He stepped over me. The students, about 20 of us, kept trying to block him and yelling for him to leave.

Things were escalating quickly and emotions were reaching a crescendo! Before I knew it, several students had ended up sprawled on the ground or slammed against the wall. He grabbed the shirt Joey Kelly (a student) and twisted it, and pushed him up to the point where his feet were off the ground and then pushed him to the ground. Joey's shirt was torn and stretched two times its size. One student was provoked enough to resist a little, and Bubba grabbed his throat and slammed him into the wall. At one point in the fray, the jumble of pushing and shoving bodies resulted in a girl being slammed into one of those railings dividing the hallway between the south entrance and the atrium.

Long story short, he finally left the building but everyone started yelling that there were two officers at the SBG door and more were going to come in from all directions. So everyone rushed to the SBG door and the other eight doors. At the SBG entrance, in the immediate foyer, there were about 20 extremely angry students yelling for the officers to leave and waving the peace sign. The media was right outside. They began to speak in their little walky talkys and there happened to be a guy there who could interpret. "Yeah we need more people here." "We can mace them." We as a group decided to back off a few feet to show that we were not physically threatening them; we just wanted them to leave. If they needed to enter the building for a bomb threat, they should be able to communicate that with us. They couldn't. Audism! Lack of communication access!

This short DPS officer whipped out his mace can and held it up, in a trigger position, not two inches from one student's face. Boy, did that frighten us. We backed off in frenzy but not completely. Just into the SBG office. Then we were right out again, despite our fear.

The only worse experience I've ever had to endure is finding out, after we'd barricaded all the gates last May, that King was going to call the cops on us and have us arrested. Today has been a close second. I'm disgusted, we're sickened. We rushed out and interviewed with a couple media outlets. I showed them my arm bruise and when asked about why we were protesting, I explained that what just happened is symbolic of that. DPS officers incapable of communicating with us. Fear tactics. Lies. Distrust. Oppression. Lack of communication. Oppression. Being ignored - faculty, staff and students. Boy, was I mad when I gave that interview. I hope I came across halfway rational.

I'm gonna go smoke a cigarette now and I'm telling ya I'm gonna smoke the fuck out of this bastard cigarette.

Keep it up... Board of Trustees need to hear us out loud and clear. I'm tired of oppression and all things that is going on between them and us. Sorry about the harm that DPS has given to you. Im surprised with Bubba--he usually is a nice guy. Im greatly disappointed in their behaviors.

Jesse... calm down and stick to the facts. This hysteria is not helping FSSA. I can see the video that the officer did not grab anyone by the throat. Stop exaggerating. finally, to call that black DPS officer "Bubba" is very racist and demeaning. Thank you.

This incident will be the undoing of the Fernandes' presidency. This woman lost all credibility and her legacy is fear, terror and violence. There is no way she could hold the crown with this legacy behind. Keep up the fight, man! The world is watching. We will prevail!

How can that be racist and demeaning if Bubba is actually his name? And check out bisontv.com and put on a pair of glasses (watch Jesse's heroic act by telling everyone to calm down) and watch the video again. May god bless you.

Working Brain-

I can't decide if you are drawing a paycheck from Jane, or just engaging in "crab barrell" behavior. What the FSSA needs now is MOMENTUM, not a brake. I've seen your comments on other sites, and they are all similiar to the one you just made. Exactly WHOSE side are you on?!?

If you're with us, pull in our direction. If you're not, say so & debate us honestly.
