In this vlog edition, I talk about meeting Jared Evans in San Diego this past weekend, a new del.icio.us feature, donations (like you, we don’t work for free!), and the importance of keeping momentum in the Gallaudet protests.
I sincerely apologize for not captioning this vlog. It takes long enough to produce a vlog, and is probably why I don’t do this often. Captioning is more work. I know, I know. You’re saying that’s precisely why companies and TV networks are hesistant to caption shows. Keep in mind, I will NOT make money off this vlog, and am making a transcript available below.
Loose translation: I went down to San Diego to have dinner with Jared Evans. I hadn’t seen him since February, and throughout the creation, launch and improvements of DeafRead, we’d been talking on a daily basis by Instant Messaging. It was nice to see him. We talked about the happenings from launch to today, as well as future DeafRead plans. FYI, I’ve known Jared since 1995. We both majored in Information Technology, were fraternity brothers, and at one point, roommated. We worked at the same company for a while, myself as an intern, him as a full-time employee.
del.icio.us is an online bookmarking service. This morning I made it convenient for you to bookmark any of the blog posts you feel is important, either for later viewing, or to be displayed on the Bookmarks page. The bookmark link appears as an icon with three colored squares: black, grey and blue.
Donations: we have poured countless hours to bring DeafRead to you. It is unlike any deaf service out there. Please return the favor by donating!
Yesterday saw the highest DeafRead traffic ever. This is probably thanks to the resurrection of Tent City. I enjoyed reading all the posts yesterday reporting on the Kendall Green happenings, as well as reading people’s opinions and reactions to the protest.
Finally, I talk about the importance of keeping momentum in the Gallaudet protests. The Gallaudet University administration, with consultants’ help, obviously strategically announced the new President just before school ended for the summer. This killed momentum. Do we let them win the game? Of course not. Once the rolling ball slows or stops, it’s difficult to get it rolling again. Do not lose momentum, folks!

Nice ASL vblog, I agree that maintaining this momentum is important, to keep going strong. It’s easy to falter via apathy and/or social loafing. We appreciate the HARD work you guys have provided for us readers. Deafread is of convenience, no argument there. I should donate at least something, yes. Thanks.

For sure, deafread.com allows me to read from a few blogsites.
Thanks to you and Jared.
Every obstacle the administration put in, we must strive
to defeat each and every one of them until our hands (instead of voices) are heard in the name of social justice.

Nice vlog. When I win the lottery, I’ll help subsidize you two.
