| | Hi guys, here is my sign proposal for the word ‘Deaf’: index finger
pointing to ear and eye at the side of the face. There is only a slight
modification of the present sign as the finger is not moving down to
the mouth after pointing to the ear, but moves to the direction of the
eye. That’s all, folks!

The meaning is obvious: person who ‘hears with the eye’ because that
is what Deaf people do using our visual capacities for receiving
communication. Or you may say: ‘ear moves into the eye’! By this sign
we are not denoted by something deaf people cannot do physiologically
as a negative deficit anymore. By this new sign we would be denoted by
something we are good at, our positive visual abilities that
we use to “hear”. How about that?!
