Confessions of an Audist

I confess that I have an English speaking ability.
I confess that I speak Spanish, it is quite a luxury.
I confess that I use my voice more than I can Be.
I confess that I come from a hearing family.
I confess that I’m profoundly deaf, you see.
I confess that I am just a trained monkey.
I confess that I act normally.

Understanding partially….

I am never free.
Judgment comes from Thee.

Infamy...
Sticks on me.
See?
Me.
History…
Living “d”.

You will not agree.
“You can’t be a D!”

Understanding culturally….

I confess that I am deaf debris.
I confess that I aid broken “guarantees”.
I confess that I please the hoos naturally.
I confess that I speak for them and seldom for We.
I confess that I crawl for them, habitually.
I confess that I have no auditory modality.
I confess that I should Be than continue this lying Me.

It's so true! I can't really speak in English because I can't hear well with my hearing aids (can hear low tunes)...I guess I was the only student who refuse to kiss their butt.

Not sure what to make of your poetry or whatever it is, but, who cares?

There is no such thing as being deaf enough or not deaf enough.

Who is anyone to judge?

Ain't nothing wrong for a deaf person to be all that and more. Or..none of the above.

I think the 'deaf vs. not deaf enough' argument is the most stupid thing I've ever heard.

I am deaf and come from a hearing family. Most of my friends are hearing and I use my voice. I also speak Spanish and Greek. Fluently.

But you know what? I am PROUD to be Deaf and I show hearies that Deaf people CAN succeed. Most of them have never met another Deaf person until they meet me. I spread my Dear Pride to places it's never been before - now my hearing friends care about the Deaf and Deaf issues too.

There is NO SUCH THING as 'deaf enough or not deaf enough.' If you have Deaf Pride, you've got it all.
