I was reading through the comments that people left on my blog. I'll have to say that most people are turned off by the word that I decided to use "rut." I know that the way I used the word make my message come off as harsh. That's the way I use to appeal to people's emotions about MY personal perspective.
I basically need to have my processors on everyday because I heavily depends on my ability to hear to get through the day. I know that many deaf people do fine without any hearing devices which is fine with me because they have their own language and culture that are rich and beautiful. Cochlear implants are necessary for me but not for everybody depends on their hearing background or preference.
I don't socialize with the deaf people that much so most of my friends are hearing that don't know how to sign or cue. The deaf people I frequently socialize are either cuers or oral.
The bottom line is that I depends on cochlear implant very much. Without the sense of hearing, I would feel like there is something vital missing. That is just how I feel.
I will like to respond to few personal comments so disregard them if it don't apply to you or whatever.
Deafeagle- You told me to read Paddy Ladd's book then come back to respond to you... So, here I am.... Because I did read the book and I really have nothing to say because it is his opinion. I do understand the perspectives and concepts of the book also, I have developed some self-respect for my deafness but it doesn't mean I will just take my implant off and be part of those Deaf by not using my implants and spoken language. I do have respect for those people and their preferences.
Barb Digi- Thanks for your lengthy comment. I know it may take you some to think things out and type it down. Appreciate your comment.
Ridor- Your same old comments about me bore me because you have some problems with me that I don't know. Keep your personal opinions about people to yourself.
Thanks everybody.

Oh Geesh, I hadn't been reading stuffs on DR for a while and came across your post and am surprised at the same ole mindset that some of these deaf people have!!
Wow.
Hey, you're doing great!
And, there ain't nothing wrong with the word RUT!
You appear more saner than those that attack you. They keep forgetting they're out there where everyone is watching them and saying uh oh! Hmm.... And if the deaf culture dies, who's fault is it? Not yours.
:)
Candy~
"In a rut" definitely wasn't the expression you wanted to use because by implication you meant that all Deaf people were in a rut unless they wore hearing aids or cochlear implants.
"Feel at a loss", "feeling lost" and "uncomfortable" would be better expressions since they refer only to your own personal feelings and do not imply negative things to other people who wear no aids.
I understood you the first time. It is amazing that others didn't understand.
Your doing great, don't let them get to you.
I understood what he wrote. However, it can be interpreted differently to other people due to how he phrased his sentence. So I can understand why some mistook what he meant.
I am glad he took steps to clarify his position
It's nice to see who the village idiots are. Dianerez got it right. Insular and ridiculous worldview that requires no clarification.
*sigh*
The deaf boy MADE himself clear that it was his PERSPECTION and I don't see why other people feel threatened by him unless his perception does not mesh with their perceptions...
He has a right to voice his views. You have a right to dissent, BUT with RESPECT.
Deaf boy,
Thank you for the clarification. Again, you have the right to express your feelings and your opinions as long as you don't imply that people different from you are somehow inferior.
Dianrez has it exactly right - that's why many of us reacted as we did.
Again, thanks for the clarification.
Thank you for your clarification and it helps me understand more about you and your background.
Yes, that's why I said I felt sad for you feeling this way being in a rut if you have no cochlear implant because it doesn't have to be this way. I find it interesting that you view language and culture as "theirs". You are deaf and it can become part of you if you allow it. Didn't you have an opportunity to interact with Deaf signers?
Like Dianrez and I said (in my previous comment) about how a choice of words may have come on too strong to some of us, it is good to understand what does it really mean. When I looked up the exact meaning of rut, it stated that:
dull settled habits or way of living
So that is the problem for people who don't wear listening devices thinking that you meant their lives are dull. But again it is your perspective and that doesn't necessarily mean that it is true for the others. Thank you.
Ben has a few things to say on this but has decided to say naught.

Interesting that you don't care one way or the other but you care enough to form an opinion about a matter that has nothing to do with the post... Quite the oxymoron!
