Talking 'bout my generations
The future of Deaf politics?
Directing you to a fascinating The New York Times article, "Is Obama the End of Black Politics?" An article based upon the polarizing political support for Democratic party's candidate, Barack Obama. I see several parallels within Deaf culture in advocating one's worldview in life and politics. I recommend you to read it and discuss in forums and schools.

Hey Oh I See!
Thumbs up!! My wife and I will vote for Obama for president because he is a breath of fresh air for politics. I really support Obama and Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Republicans are very jealous of Democrats because if Hillary wins the presidency, she will be the first woman to win. If Obama wins,he will be the first black president. if Deaf will wins the presidency, Deaf will be the first Deaf to win. The Republicans are very boring that is true.
Thanks for sharing,
Thumbs up! ;-)

OIC. Should be an interesting change if he wins. What if it's a candidate of Latino descent? Will you support automatically or determine the candidate's philosophy first? What if true biz, the Latino candidate become President and do you think it will make an impact for you and other people or not? Same idea as a Deaf person, you determine where you stand in life as a human being and what's best for everyone else.
I see the same parallel amongst the minorities and the majority as you do. Albeit wealthy, a singer Harry Belafonte wrote as an op-ed contributor in The Washington Post in 2003 about the State Secretary Colin Powell and Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice. He said they should never have accepted the positions for someone like Bush. He bitterly said that they were slaves of the Master (Bush).
It is my opinion that Rice seized the opportunity -- quid pro qup in the unforeseeable future.
I have learned from a rabbi several years ago that a child cannot be Jewish or black if his mother's womb is not Jewish or black even though his father is Jewish or black.
Many Americans keep asking which black or white Obama is. The rabbi I have mentioned above would reply, "Obama is white -- neither black or Muslim -- in that Obama's mother's womb is Christian and white. The haplotype of Obama's mother's mitochrondian DNA which every child receives from his mother's womb proves Obama to be white even though his skin is brown.
I do not want John McCain. Obama is inexperienced, but, as he says, he will be guided by "integrity." I think that it is an immature, "nothing-to-worry-about thought. He should stay in the Senate until 2012.
Nader? Nothing wouild be capsized by Hillary's and Obama's supporters as it was when Gore lost.
But:
Nader wouild, if my math is correct, would have been 78 years old by the time he takes the inauguration in January of 2009.
Time will speak itself.
Oops! Typo!!!
It should read "quo" -- not "qup".
Sorry. Smile
jean, I think I recall that Belafonte's incident but as for Rice's and Powell's making race a non-issue via their own investment in government, worth it in the end? Cannot deny they also played a part to lead the way for us to focus on other qualities or capabilities in an individual. I think Obama can go all the way and people may underestimate him at times. Time will tell if race will finally be out of the picture.
Opps, forgot to add, who knows that AGB can be out of the picture for Deaf people and so on in the future. There may be a better attitude somewhere down the road with more influence and leadership for majority of people that can understand and respond to.

todd, ha, my first vlog went on for way too long so I tried to make it shorter as possible thus the double-speed.
I hope this article is of benefit of those interested in social sciences.
I checked the link and voted. McCain in the lead? Ack! Doesn't look too good there - biased apparently.
Hey Oh I See!
I hope that Latino candidate can become president someday. Be patient it's coming soon. That is good survey.
The management at Wal-Mart wants the manager there to discourage their employees from voting for Obama. Wal-Mart hates union so they're hoping their employees will vote for McCain because he is anti-union. I will not go into Wal-Mart or shop there because of how they try to influence their employees. It's all about the money with them. I hate Fox News on show.
Why I support Rev. Jeremiah Wright?
Another Deaf person and I already filed against our federal employer because there is a lot of discrimination going on. The attorney is female. She is very strong and fully supports all Deaf employees in the federal work place. She said as an example, there's been a big backlash against Jeremiah Wright based on a few of his comments that were taken out of context and shown repeatedly. Most of the commentators do not listen to the entirety of his speeches and do not take into account the context of black history and the role of the black church. It's the same for the Deaf. Hearing people those that are biased against ASL and Deaf culture do not take into account the feeling and the experiences of Deaf people. White people watching Jeremiah Wright and are outraged by his comments because they've never experienced What it's like to be a black person in American. Hearing people dismiss the feeling of Deaf people because they've never experienced what it's like to be shoved aside because they don't speak English and can't hear. I think she has a good point. I think that I want to be a manager in the federal work place someday.
I have tried to change my grammar and use correct grammar. I have learned a lot from my wife about politics, English, etc. I spent my childhood at TSD. My wife is very educated, not me. I graduated, then went to a work for the federal for 24 years. I went to a small community college, but did not graduated. I got interested in politics from my wife.
Sorry, too much and shut my mouth up!

Hey Oh I See!
Sorry again,
My wife and my friends told me about Latino candidate become President.
Sorry, too much political.
With regard to Hispanic or Latino candidates, I see no difference between supporting them and anyone else. I used to think a lot of Governor Richardson from New Mexico - until I heard from several friends of mine who were campaigning in Iowa for Obama that he was a major skirt chaser. I'm a big fan of Henry Cisneros, problems and all. I don't really think there is much of a difference any more. Rick Noriega will be the democratic senate candidate in Texas and he is a bit of a scumbag. It all depends on WHO the candidate is rather than their race or ethnicity. Having said that I know damned well that Obama will lose about 12% - 15% of the vote because there are at least that many racists who won't vote for him. But we are so polarized otherwise that it would be something else anyway - evangelicals not voting for pro abortion candidates, union members not voting for right-to-work candidates, etc.
Bottom line is that I - and all of the democrats I know - have voted for Latino candidates in the past and will continue to do that in the future - and there will be more of them every year because of the change in demographics. Latinos may very well determine this election - and if not this one, then certainly the next one.
