I feel more wonky than last surgery.
I have a slope and a swagger that gives me the illusion of still being under the anesthetists magic spell.
Perhaps some residual goo still in my system, but I gotta figure that the invasiveness of the cochlear implant surgery is the cause of my malaise today.
It was good to spend the first night post surgery under the watchful eyes of a nurse. Every two hours I was checked and new bag of antibiotic placed on my IV drip. But the old (expired I believe) and cold roast beef sandwich at 7 am for breakfast, was my sign to get of Dodge. I needed home to get better. Janet bailed me out at 8 am yesterday morning.
My own bed last night was like heaven with fresh sheets!
Home is where TLC lives. Home is where the magic of healing ramps up. Under the watchful eyes and tender touch of Janet. The demanding annoying yip of Speeder. And having Dan check on me at regular intervals, I thrive and magically mend.
I need my rest, my read, my "qwerty".
I require to heal: my Nettles tea, green smoothies, cranberry juice, and pure black cherry juice.
Water and lots of it to flush out the toxins that may be around from surgery.
Epsom salts bath to draw out any evil that may be lurking from chemicals that knocked me into a land that allowed high speed drills to invade my cranium, totally unbeknownst to me.
I do feel like a new guy and it is just after noon here. I have been spoiled with fresh omelette for breakfast, and fresh salmon for lunch. I feel new.
I feel like my eleven newly planted electrodes are like horses at the starting gate. Revving and snorting in the dark confines of my melon, just raring to fire new sound on my right side.
I am giddy in anticipation.
I must be feeling better because I caught myself last night perfecting a recipe that Janet and I have been working on. I had it all laid out in my head. It was a killer appetizer that I have been working on. I had the goat cheese, the fresh diced tomatoes, the basil, virgin olive oil with garlic, the fresh ground pepper, all mixed nice, poured into a portabello mushroom cap, then grilled.
It came to Janet that I was missing some key elements that would kick it over the top. Lemon zest and a light dusting of fresh Parmesan before grilling was missing.
I must be back to being close to well!
I am a "serial griller".
I have yet to get a "go" date for my right side activation. Typically it is 4 weeks from implant, so I will work with end of August in mind.
Rest is the equalizer.
Great food mixed with love of the family is the magic that will heal me in days.
Speeder is just a nuisance.
Albeit a cute one.
Warmly, and under a Schnoodle's watchful eye,
David

I didn't realize Speeder was a Schnoodle! I grew up with a Schnoodle named Attu who was possible the sweetest, quietest dog ever. (She was born in Alaska. My mom has a thing about giving our pets overly-thought-out names.) Sounds like you've got the perfect perscription there, family, dog, and good food. Rest easy this weekend!
Wow David - glad you are home now - quick recovery for you - I spent 4 days in hospital. I hope everything goes good for you (end of Aug hook-up). Take it easy, eh!

Hi David
Thanks for your visit to my blog.
Who knew that getting older would be this way eh?
With your head and my shoulder we make a fine pair.
A pair of what is the question?
And then this morning I wake up and my right foot is swollen and my right knee has sharp pains and I can hardly walk (while trying to carry the Polar Cub.)
If I was a horse they would be arranging to shoot me about now.
But like you I am fortunate to have TLC from a spouse that really does love me.
Hi to Janet and Dan and Speeder too.
Take care all of you.
Bear((( )))
You know what else would help you heal faster? If you took a trip out to SF. With your dog. And let me play with it. Mmm hmm. Damn cute dog ya got there.
How beautifully put, there is simply just no place like home. And never is that more true than when recovering from a fairly invasive surgery! I'm so glad you're home and that Janet seems to be feeling better as well. That appetizer you mention sounds fabulous! Can I come up for dinner sometime?
appetizer sounds like a wonderful meal to me :) heck I LOVE anything that I do not have to cook :) Speeder is just too cute... and I am so glad home is where you are and with such wonderful nursing staff :D Kick back relax and heal

There is no place like home and your bed and TLC! Glad to hear you are doing well. Your dog is beautiful!

Glad you are getting back to the usual

I'm visiting on the recommendation of Green. Hoping all the best for you.
We had a schnoodle also--although I think the poodle was pretty dominant.
Appetizers at 6 tomorrow night?
Glad you are feeling better. Once I stopped taking the painkillers, my face didn't feel so hot anymore and the nausea went away. Thank goodness. Was I ever glad to get the head bra off. LOL.
Take it easy and give your pooch a hug. :)

A roast beef sandwich? For breakfast? Is that a Canadian thing? I'd have had my bags packed already!
Hooray for healing at home and puppy cuddles!
How nice to be in your own bed! I am glad that you seem to be doing well.
And ummm, how soon can I get there for that appetizer? It sounds great!
I can read your optimism and your happiness all the way through this post and it's lovely. So glad you're at home and raring to go...
I can read about and imagine your appetiser - but how do we transmit the taste?
You have the best hospital right there - they don't do TLC in intensive care, do they?
YAY! I'm glad you're healing well at home, David. I'm even more glad that you are doing well.
Nothing like your own bed and loved ones

holy dookie batman... I thought you only removed my comment not the whole post... Oh dear ... david! I hope the mellon is feeling some better today! I can not imagine ... soft tissue trauma is bad but when bone is involved OUCHIES... HUGSSSSSS ME
they are the first to greet you when you come home. It doesn't matter what state you are in our pets are always there with love and happy to see us.
Pure black cherry juice sounds awesome. Glad to hear everything went alright. Take good care and get well soon.
If anything can make you heal faster it would be those four things: home, family, food and pets. Get some rest, now!
