Deaf Anthology # 77: "ASL Across America"

"ASL ACROSS AMERICA"

(1986 promo tape, no CC)

"ASL ACROSS AMERICA"

Commentary: I remember that we had a "HANDS ACROSS AMERICA" event on Sunday, May 25, 1986, when we have approximately 7 millions Americans forming a human chain across America holding hands for 15 minutes from New York to California, 4,152 miles to raise awareness and funds for the hunger and the homeless. Each participant donated $10. I myself participated in the line in Chicago, the midsection.

The idea time probably will be on a Sunday afternoon during Deaf Awareness in September. Perhaps a once in a lifetime show of unity of Deaf Americans. I know it requires some logistics, but what you think?

This is Smokey, stay tuned for the next episode of Deaf Anthology. Good Night, Deaf America!
