There are many things I find wrong with HA manufacturers web sites, especially when it comes to finding information on their two or three year old HA’s that have been replaced by newer updated models.
I’m a recent BTE HA owner/wearer. My BC-HIS specialist recommended a specific “well known manufactures brand name” BTE HA. While in the office I asked for a brochure (of which he didn’t have) on that make/model.
The specific make/model I was looking for information on was a recent (still being manufactured and dispensed) model.. and had been on the market for the past two/three years or so. The “well known manufactures brand name” web site had exactly ONE piece of information on it.. and that was a downloadable PDF operators manual.
Now I’m NOT a conspiracy theory type guy, but if other industry web sites (I’m not talking HA’s now) list and have information on products that are several years old (but no longer being manufactured).. why can’t the HA industry do it. As a example: Information on Western Digital computer hard drives that are many, many years old and no longer being sold (let alone in production) is still available on their web site. Not only does it have all the tech specs on them.. but pictorial information too.
The only reason I could think of why my BTE HA wasn’t listen on the manufactures web site was for customer up grading purposes. After all, if you can’t find information on a particular item (but you can on it’s newer replacement) then it’s a good chance you might buy the newer model.. at a increased price of course.
