Hi Teri, You did it. Go, girl. You are absolutely right we need to focus on what we are NOT. Stop growing the myths of deaf people. Sorry to say, your vlog is truly a high-conceptualized one yet a simple explanation. I doubt many deaf readers will comphrend what you are trying to convey. You gave a very simple definition of Deafhood. It is the best one. I think it’s better than Joesph. His presentation is awesome, but it is quite a llong and so-blah video. Your vlog is very unproblematic unlikely of many other trouble-sought vloggers.

Yes! After you said “lifestyle” that’s exactly right!!! Simple as that. This is what I look at what “deafhood” mean? Its a lifestyle.
Beautifully vlog, Teri!
Enjoy your summer!

Hi Teri, You created a thought-provoking response. I am not one of those illiterates. LOL I understand you completely. You do certainly give a simple interpretation of Deafhood. We need to look at ourselves what we are not. You are damn right. I am not like those militants I am just a simple deaf man who wants to LIVE.

Very good! I really appreciated your contribution to the journey of our being Deaf.

All the dissent is why British deaf have mostly rejected Mr Ladd’s book and the philosophy behind it, we saw it coming, we did warn you it would divide people, and create mayhem, you chose to ignore. Now Don, methinks you protesteth over much…. I’m wondering if deaf in the UK are more confident in what they are than the Americans are ? Since we don’t need the ‘props’ of deafhood…..

Exactly. A personal journey, nothing more.

Your view is very simplistic yes and I understand you well, however the basic in America where number of vloggers and bloggers are chaotic over the definition of deafhood. Obviously many of them do not read or study 4 things such as metaphysics, epistomology, politics and ethics that are tool for understanding the deafhood and often relates to self-identity based on those fours.

Hello terri, Well said in your vlog.. with one request wonder if you can post that link to joseph’s vlog? I would like to see it.. Thanks

Paddy talks over their head, worse, in a mode deaf don’t use or prefer so they tell me i.e. sign language. eve in printed text english it is very heavy to read through, which I think is a smoke screen basically to suggest it is more ‘deep’ than it actually is. Until they start producing ‘books’ for deaf consumption, in ASL/BSL, it won’t even be reference material for deaf people, just reference material for hearing. Most is plagaurised History, the rest quite obscure defintions and mass over-indulgence and obsession, in my view. I defy most grass roots to be ABLE to sign it.

Platonic Eyes,
Are you serious? You’re asking an entire nation to learn the works of great philosophers in the fields of metaphysics, epistomology, politics and ethics? Aristotle wrote the first work on ethics and thousands, if not hundreds followed suit on ethics?
Metaphysical? One can attain understanding of that once one understands epistomology. That alone is quite a feat, especially when the entire nation barely knows who Socrates is!
This country reads People magazines, TMZ, and Perez.
Be real.
Teri is right by trying to simplifying this.

Great vlog. Thank you for making it simple for us to understand what Deafhood is. It’s really shameful reading about the disputes at Deafread. I am glad you are wise not to discuss them. They are boring and repetitive.

Teri and Karen,
You hit the nail smoothly in the head! Bloody true that it is merely a personal journey” Not all journeys are alike. How they make a mountain out of a molehill is beyond my comprehension.
Excellent vlog, Teri!

Bingo!!! So simple….each and every person has a personal journey but yet different from the others! Personally, I look at Deafhood as a lifestyle — a multitude of journeys as a Deaf-blind person!
Thank you, Teri!
