New School for Deaf in Japan

In April 2008, Japan got a new school for the deaf thanks to the efforts of a deaf man who was upset by not being permitted to use sign language at his deaf school as a child. This same man, Akihiro Yonaiyama, also launched the Japanese Theatre of the Deaf. He is also a DoD - deaf of deaf parents.
