Cell Phone Scams

30 06 2008

ASL Video - Approx 3:39 Minutes Long

Not too long ago, Grant discovered hidden premium fee on T-Mobile (Sidekick II) thru monthly statement online. Same thing goes with his Sprint Treo 755p, unfortunately.

Grant probably lost few hundred dollars because he’s not paying attention to statement carefully. He looked up Google and discovered that he’s not alone. Many people got scammed out of it, too. He may get some money back but who knows.

This is real example at http://myluvcrush.ca/ and others – you can look at it but do not put your cell phone number on it. It will automatically take small fee from your cell phone bills.

Once a while, please check your statement online (or mail out) from time to time. It shouldn’t be that hard to notice when there’s hidden fee in it. (price difference, etc.)

Does anybody have similar problem as ours?

Thanks for the warning! I just checked my Tmobile phone bill this morning and was surprised. I stopped using my sidekick in June and noticed I got $10.00 monthly charge. I have to call and find out why? Sigh!!

Thanks for bring it up. Also do not put your cell phone statements into the trash without shredding them. Someone who finds them will use your cell phone numbers and small fees will be added to your bills.

Dude,

It is not cell phone scam. It is your responsible to check the site before you putting your phone number on it.

They alway charge for anything, it is not possible for free, I would say rare.

It has nothing to do with Sprint or tmobile, They will bill to that company and you would have to pay for it.

My friends and strangers, the reasons you got those extra fees, that’s because you signed up some like free ringstone, program for your phone, etc. All those asked for your text number during sign-up, and most of us didn’t read the ‘agreement’ statement before we click “I agree” during registration, that’s how we all didn’t realize about that…so just check your phone bill and put block or ask to unsubscribe so you won’t get fees anymore, if they does, ask for new phone #

That’s why I check my T-Mobile statement every month to be sure I’m paying the right charges. I’ve had many problems with bogus charges and I had to call T-Mobile to tell them that I’m Deaf and I never made those calls or charges on my SK 3. They helped me by giving me SK 3 Hearing Impaired Feature, which means I remove the cell phone from my pager since it’s not useful for me. I can still text with mobile number to hearing people like my niece.

I also signed up on the DO NOT CALL Registry and requested that no one call me on my pager or our home phone. Sometimes this system works, but not always. We’ve been harassed so long by several toll free numbers on our Caller ID. My husband refuses to answer the dang phone until he checks the ID.

We all have to be extra careful when it comes to SCAM/SPAM’s. I hate those things! We are responsible adults!

Thanks Grant for sharing your story with us.

Yeah! I had know my same monthly charges which is about $45 and when i get bills every month, I will always know it is around that cost to pay for. If i notice any spike in total cost, then I would check the bill for details why I am being charged more than in usual monthly charges.

Yeah, I had same thing on facebook, they asked me for SMS number to register for free but in the fine print, it is only free for the first month, and afterwards will be charged. After I realized that, I unregistered immediately. It does not charge me anything on the cellphone bill. Whew!

Cool quote. You have a good attitude, I like it. Are you Christian?

if you signed up for myluvcrush, text STOP to tell it to discontinue. You should no longer be charged after that. I don’t think the cell phone companies can help you.
