Brings the whole saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” into context. Sign languages could be seen as similar to animated 3D pictures, a wealth of information can all be expressed simultaneously. Visual information is often a lot more powerful than both the written and spoken word. Amazing we hearing folks bother to talk at all really
Having said that it’s just occurred to me that spoken languages such as English are more than just linear. The speed and pitch of a voice does add a couple of extra dimensions to the information being provided, although nothing like as much as a visual/signed language.
