Why Should You Quit Using SorensonVRS?
June 22nd, 2008 Posted in Deaf CommunityI was browsing YouTube this morning and saw this video and it seem how she react about SorensonVRS and why she hate it and fed up and will not use it anymore and she keep repeating the same issues. It made me realize that people should keep VP no matter what because what if you need to call your friends, family, work, or need make a 911 call? Let’s see the video below:
Should you quit using SorensonVRS and use other VRS provider like HOVRS, CSDVRS, HIPVRS? Why does SorensonVRS really suck or are they great? Who is the best VRS provider out there these days? I have been hearing alot of people telling me that they hate SorensonVRS because the service does suck and the interpreters aren’t professional and they don’t use properly clothing, or bad lighting or bad background.
I think every employee who work for a VRS provider should wear all same t-shirt with VRS logo regardless if they are customer service rep, interpreter, tech support so this will be a professional manner. Sometimes I get a interpreter herself wearing a fancy sexy clothes and I was like “What the ..” and also one time I got a interpreter himself that wear a fancy suit and act so gay, is that professional? No!
I also notice all SorensonVRS interpreters always put you on privacy screen if there’s a hold on the line, huh? What happened to freedom of speech? HOVRS doesn’t do that … Means Sorenson not support deaf community at all. Also, they tend to type on keyboard and tying repeatly… I found, they are TALKING with other interpreters, during my phone call? That’s really rude and no respect!! They need to remove keyboard and focus on customer and relaying the call!
Lastly of all, who is the best VRS provider from my opinion? HOVRS is the #1 than all, it’s the truth!

As a spouse whose interpreter is working in VRS, I find that the privacy screen is beneficial for the interpreters. Why, you wonder?
- so they can stretch their arms and relax
- so they can drink water to help with voice
- so they can remain alert
Other providers do not do that because they do not have that ability. If they did, they would do the same. Think about it before you jump ship, mate.

HOVRS violates the FCC regulations. Sorenson and the FCC are best, best friends! HOVRS is gonna go down the drain in the near future.
Sorenson ALL THE WAY!!

Try CSDVRS!
Friendly service!
Sorenson, HOVRS, Hawk, XVRS, Sprint, Snap, Etc…all are great services…I recommend anyone to try them all and decide.
Personally, CSDVRS is the best for me. Still, recommend trying them all…different people, different tastes, different locations, different interpreting centers, different service reps, and etc etc….
Hearing people are the same…Veruizon, Sprint, At&T, T-Mobile…blah blah…try em’ all and decide…
Try CSDVRS!

This is a message for DUH!!!
Please do not give me that lame excuses. Historically SorensonVRS has a bad rap already! Private Screening which I found it very offensive to us deaf culture does not constitute your inputs. I have known for a fact they do make fun or watch us either ways. That is of no wonder why many SORENSONVRS Interpreters cannot actually interpret deaf s ability of communication. Have you heard of the word “Interact” It helps to have no private screening at all because it works bothways to know one s other in understanding your signing methods. HOVRS, Viable, CSDVRS, etc do not do that because they WORK with us! So obviously, you need more lesson to know the deaf culture’s role. As far as I can say now, SORENSONVRS INterpeters are not all certified interpreters or in the category of either RID’s B-A-M.
In conclusion - NO wonder SOrensonVRS interpreter always misinterpret’s deaf communications toward the hearing caller. That is where we now do not trust SorensonVRS Interpreter. Sorry!!!
I wonder if SorensonVRS interpreter are there for the MOOLAH or being there to assist us? If they are there for us, this should not be a problem using private screening!
THanks!

In reply to FEEfiFO: You can put your privacy screen up. You sound very insecure in your assertions.
Other providers will do anything because they’re trying to prove themselves as the best, fastest, friendliest service. But numbers do not lie.
You’re welcome to use any other provider you like, I’m not going to stop you. But I am all in support of privacy screen, I care for my spouse’s health first and foremost.

To Duh! Understand your purpose to care for your spouse. I am in agreement to care for spouses. No, I am not insecure in my assertions. Numbers as u are correct does not lie, but statistics and others tells the facts. It is just SorensonVRS’s own policy. No policy exist on others for a mere fact. Just giving my mere 2 cents what our deaf culture is experiencing this “silly” privacy. Thanks.

Thanks for the added shuffle to my blog *grins* No really, I was really fed up that day, and after that post I realized I still wanted to keep VRS in general, just get rid of Sorenson. I still use VRS on my computer, but it’s been since that day that I’ve used my VP.
By the way you sign on Jun 23, 2008
Are you hearing? Your signing looks like crap. No wonder the Sorenson Interpreters or any interpreters couldnt understand you.
By LMAO on Jun 23, 2008
The way you sign,
That’s very true! I think she’s hearing or late-deafened who just learned how to use ASL. It’s a pity that she signs horribly. Worse than any VRS interpreters.
I couldn’t continue watching her vlog more than 10 seconds because her lousy signing skills was just about to make me go blind!

SHAME on you
By dog food on Jun 24, 2008
funny that no one seems to realize that this post has been propagandized by customer care workers who’re looking for people to “Join” their relay.
yeah, her signing is terrible. if she’s hearing or late deafened, i bet my left testicle that she can speak way better than y’all.
y’know, actually pronouncing words instead of grunts and farts?
By Rox on Jun 24, 2008
I agree that Sorenson needs to improve their services. At this time, they do not require their interpreters to be certified. In fact, they can hire any idiot off the street, have them go through their 80 hour training, and then they go on to become VRS interpreters.
However, I do prefer they have the privacy screen up during long hold times. I hate the feeling like we’re just looking at each other so long. I also don’t feel so obligated to have a side conversation with the terp. Also, I know that many VRS terps are actually communicating with others regarding their work, i.e. “this is a tough call, can you team with me?” or “I’ve been terping for 30 minutes, I need someone to switch with me.” Nothing wrong with that.
If you know they make fun of you, you probably deserve to be made fun of.
By Abbie on Jun 24, 2008
Her signing looks like crap? Wow, I’m impressed with the nitpicking over the fluency of signing. The only thing that looks like crap to me is your attitudes towards someone who was trying to make a point about communication access.
By r u kidding? on Jun 24, 2008
“…one time I got a interpreter himself that wear a fancy suit and act so gay, is that professional? No!”
It amazes me when Deaf people are homophobic. Do you not understand discrimination? You should be embarrassed.
By Eddie on Jun 25, 2008
First of all, Just let you know CSDVRS have more fancy and clear Identify number and their name on VRS than HOVRS sloppy and stinks attitudes. I notice HOVRS talking with someone else without you see them. they should respect like other people phone calls. I suggest you check with that CSDVRS see for yourself.
