I have heard your responses. Ok, if it is too much to expect captions on a signed vlog, and too much to expect a transcript, I will gladly settle for a summary. Even just a summary is helpful when I do not understand the signing.
Does the deafvillage policy include summaries in addition to captions and transcripts?

I don't see a need for compromise.
Captioning is and will always be an access issue in the deaf communities.
The hearies don't have do it to their vlogs because its not and never been an access issue to them unless theyre delivering the message to the deaf communities.
The most important thing is how people, the hearies especially, see how we handle the captioning access issue.
If were doing it, we'd send people a strong message we want it there.
If we don't do it then they'll think we don't care about the caption access issues and in the long run it will make it very hard for us to get captioning for tv, movies, etc.
Compromise is what were tired of, look at the FCC for example, compromises are delaying 100% captioning till 10-20 years from now.
So the upshot of this reply is if we want it, we should do it to our vlogs, else, they wont do it for us when we ask them to do it.
Well, how about summaries for spoken vlogs, too?
That's a good idea. It will tag search engines to find it, even if just a four line summary.
It gives me a lot of information also whether it is worth my time to watch the vlog, or to look for the conclusion of the vlog, or to remember the content of the vlog at a later time.
Jamie, I tend to rely heavily on summaries. I did put some effort to make sure the readers get a consolidated idea of my posted vlog.
Ah no. Personal vloggers represent a minority compared to the majority of readers tied to the media market.
To those who oppose an English Transcript to Deaf Vlogs, I have to point out that the international Deaf Community includes speakers of BSL, AUSLAN and NZSL, who KNOW English, but don't know ASL. (As well as many Deaf non-English speakers who know Written English, but NOT ASL.)
If someone was willing to offer me a free ASL or BSL signed translation of my blogs, I'd go with it. Unless they do I can't oblige, as I am not profficent enough in either. One e-mail I had said it wasn't fesible, and I should learn BOTH sign modes instead, because they learnt english. So if the sign user can come back in a few years.... why they are rejecting captions beats me, access is access.
