A Bully in the Community: Mighty Mouth!

Transcript:

Hello DeafRead and Deafvideo.tv,

This will be a brief comment.

I'm directing this to Mike McConnell.

Ok, I need to use my voice now because hoos won't understand my signing.

So, okay...

Mike, my question for you right now is:
What was your intention of putting an older vlog on deafvideo.tv right now?

I mean, I know there has been a discussion about closed captioning, ASL, and etc.

But I want to ask you again:
What was your intention of putting that video on deafvideo right now?

I mean, since we have never known you to show up there and now you show up there..

Looking for trouble???
or
Looking to be pompass or something?...

I don't know.

I want to let you know:
Be careful what you do.
Be careful what you say because eventually, sooner or later, your advantage of having a hearing aid could be gone.

Thank you.

P.S. It probably wouldn't matter if Mike lost his hearing ability because he'd be quick to say: "I want an implant!" No questions asked!

I was told that Mike McConnell got 40 db which is not too bad and could be able to talk verbally. Good for him and those that have low db. But many other understood about those that have 75 to 120 db are the ones that suffer because of the "cream of the crop" deaf people that have the an arrogant personality like Mike McConnell making others feel bad. I have no respect about Mike, like when he had a paypal button on his Blogsite asking for money from the Deaf community for himself to buy a Baby grand piano....! Can you image that?

I will never respect Mike McConnell with his Vile personality having no heart at all,... sometime I wonder if he has an implanted artificial heart.

Yep, that wannabe hoo is a well known "pompous ass." Thanks for using your voice for first time in your vlog. Maybe he'll LISTEN this time around instead of reading about it!

I moseyed on over to DVTV after reading this blog/vlog and my jaws dropped to the floor.

Now I understand your message.

Whoa. What makes me angry is NOT the fact that he used his voice. I could care less about that as long as he made the info accessible. What really offends me is his particular message.

You're right. I cannot fathom his purpose in posting at DVTV. Throwing in our face the perspective that being Deaf is not only a disability, but one that HAS to be overcome is...insensitive to say the least.

I'm appalled.

His messages only drives home the point that having a deaf child is a calamity to be overcome.

This offends me on so many levels.

This is not the first time Jeff used his voice in his vlogs.

I've heard him used his voice on prior videos.

silly.

Jeffrey said...

Candy,

Good to see that your CI works just fine. Yes,..you are correct.

I used my voice once before.

Thanks for the clarification once more.

Gumdrop?

lol you're assuming things! I don't don't have a C.I.

I guess nitpicking is a trait in some people. Silly.

Shel said...

drmzz,

Off the topic:

Did the health inspector approve your lemonade?

Jeffrey how's your hangover this morning?

Shel said...

yeah, it's a sour biz to be in, judging from Jeff's hangover.

"What was your intention of putting an older vlog on deafvideo.tv right now?"

Um, I have never signed up on DVTV and I never put any of my video(s) in DVTF. They took it from YouTube without my knowledge. I had no idea it was on DVTV in the first place since I don't go there. In fact, DVTV never informed me of their intention of using my YouTube videos into their website.

Now, if you want credibility then learn not to get into these peurille name callings and ad hominem attacks if want a proper dialogue to take place.

Dave. My db is 70, not 40 (which I wouldn't mind having) in my right ear. My left ear is around 90 which is useless for a hearing aid.

And, oh, speaking of nitpicking....

BTW, I never had a paypal button about the piano thing. I have a "piano store," though.

http://ragtimepiano.blogspot.com

Nothing wrong in asking donations of course I don't expect to see anything anyway. And you're annoyed? Funny.

Tell Mike to go to H*ll and don't let him push you to use yer voice!

Shel said...

Mike McConnell,

If you didn't put it in DVTV, and that is credible considering your comments at your blog re: DVTV, then someone pulled a Richard Roehm on you. You will need to follow up on this.

I don't agree with the putting of a vlog/blog into another site without the author's permission.

I'm sure Drmzz would agree, being the victim of the same thing.

Mike,

I guess you should talk so someone at DVTV if that is the case. Perhaps someone did it for you, as you say, without your consent. Who is kokonutty?

I see you.

Your buddy Paotie could use your good advice. I think what you say makes great sense,..

"Now, if you want credibility then learn not to get into these peurille name callings and ad hominem attacks if want a proper dialogue to take place."

We can learn...

Moebius-

It wasn't Mike who pressed me to use my voice but it was my own compassion that willed me to want to give everyone an opportunity to understand. At first, I provided no transcript for the vlog but then I immediately remembered Kim who is late-deafened and just learning ASL. I then decided to go back and provide her the same access.

My voice is a prison and a freedom.
A Paradox.

However, our ASL is liberty and with it I become alive. SimCom is okay to get a message out but it allows no room for a true language. One will falter while the other will dominate.

So don't worry,..my vlogs are more fun when done in the language that suits me, my soul, best.

And that's ASL.

*ahem*

Yet the truth remains,...
Ignorance is reinforced by wants and desires.

We know what they, the hearing folk, want but do they know what we need.

One poet wrote:

"You have to be deaf to understand."

-William J. Madsen

That makes a lot of sense yet, I refuse to accept the idea that people aren't capable of showing compassion and actually listening with their hearts.

Compassion goes far and beyond.

Thus, the revolution continues...

We fight to be recognized and to be respected.

Deaf Education doesn't mean teaching deaf children how to function in a hearing world but teaches hearing people how to love and embreace deaf children.

That's Deaf Education.
That's our revolution.

It's souls, not science.

Jeffrey said...

Shel-

Speaking of German surnames. I did reject a comment from a particular someone who mentioned he intended to milk this for all its worth.

I refuse to let his mindless remarks be published here since he could not tell you the meaning of respect.

He doesn't know what it means.

I believe that this orange juice is outdated. That's more than likely the culprit for this sour stomach.

Shel said...

Jeff,

Your comment at 4:15 is truly beautiful. I feel exactly that way.

I agree with you about that certain someone. You cannot teach him the meaning of respect when he isn't willing to show any.

Re: orange juice.

EEK! Do you think Drmzz accidentally used orange instead of lemon? No wonder the health inspector told him he was crazy.

I think I'll stay away from lemonades and orange juices for this week until the new batch comes in. ;0

Shel

Jeffrey said...

Perhaps...

We shall see.

drmzz said...

Shel, heh.

THAT! Deaf soul, bro!

McConnell, I recall seeing your piano vlog a week ago there. I'm under the impression that only way vlogs were posted to DVTV if you personally subscribed to it. Strange timing or lemons?

Misha said...

To Mike McConnell,

Oh really? You claimed that you never registered at DVTV? Either you may forgot that you had ALREADY registered DVTV several months ago or may be lying. Take your pick.

Hmm....well, "kokonutty"? Trying to stir up the hornets' nests at DVTV, eh? Nice try, asshat.

Misha

Mike McConnell said...

Um, Mishka, calm down. If you look at DVTV you can see that anyone can register in anybody's YouTube name. Plus, in the language drop down menu it says "ASL," "BSL", and "Other." It's obvious I speak in my vlogs, not ASL. So, somebody is getting a laugh out of this one and it's certainly not me.

Now, if my vlog is apparently not consistent with DeafTV being that it's an ASL/BSL signing forum/community then the DVTV need to ensure that it stays consistent with the community's "safe haven" by making sure videos that do come in are in a signing format...not spoken. Though, it's curious that DVTV doesn't outline that DVTV is a signing-only community but looking at it it's self-evident it is. DVTV needs to be more vigilent in these matters to ensure consistency.

Again, I'm not laughing over this.

Misha said...

Hey, Mike, "buddy" boy...

I'm not Mishka. Get our names right, ok?

No I had a talk with someone who had stated that you in fact had registered DVTV. Get your facts straight. It's impossible that someone else could put up your videos there, only you.....YOU. MEANS YOU!

I still triple dog dare you to do ASL vlog, fool.

Misha M-I-S-H-A What does that spell? MISHA!

Misha said...

Mike,

By the way, you can take up with Tayler. He also handles DVTV. You can find out more information from him since you in fact had already registered at DVTV. Get your head out of your ass and wake up. Take that up with Tayler.

Misha M-I-S-H-A What does it spell?

Hey Misha, I busted him good in his orignial blog, I am kinda disappointed that he is not being honest to himself from a start. Bingo, he is the one who sneaked to remove his whole blog to make himself look good. No wonder it s tough to get evidence that someone is trying to cover up the truth fact like what AUDISM people did to us and our Deaf children of the past. What a phoney guy he is I ever know. That s when he showed himself as a shadow hearing person with no facial expression or body language. By the way he did used a body language however he resist the hand movement that doesnt mean anything from ASL. So is that something else? I knew it all along for a long time that I will not let him getting away with it that easily.

I just wait for the time comes right so now I am seeing the truth that I was doing the right thing to get him as the evidence all along. :) I love it.

I am not that stupid he thinks I am. :) Now who is being so ignorant and oppressor?

Thanks Jeff for speaking it out. This is a damn good one. :)

SweetMind :)

Let's get this straight, babies born with a hearing loss do not belong to Deaf people or the community but rather to the parents. You can, however, help provide all the necessary information so that parents (particular hearing parents) so that they can make the necessary informed decision. They do need help yet, again, their decision is wholly theirs and not the Deaf community or any other community for that matter. Just the parents. That's all people can do is to make sure that parents are given the proper information.

Misha, you can say what you want until you're blue in the face but it was not I who registered at DVTV. An IP address does not tell who is doing the entering. Though after learning this so recently it was quite interesting seeing that DVTV never explained to their Deaf participants the kind of diversity and tolerance they want over there.

Mike McConnell said...

SM,

"Body language," movements and gesturing are quite common among hearing people whenever they speak. Learn to let go of your paranoia for a change and move on with your life. You are way too consumed in all of this.

Misha said...

Mike

Even though you "claim" that you didn't register DVTV, I would suggest you contact Tayler and get to the bottom. Also, you can request him to remove your name off of DVTV. That's simple, DUH....
About DVTV, it is mostly ASL friendly, get that through your head. Yes there is diversity since there are BSL,Spanish, religion, etc.

Misha

Mike McConnell said...

Misha, look again at DVTV before you start the "duh" routine, again.

DVTV claims "diversity" but it's not really diversity when it comes to modes of communication used. Just ASL. I suppose I could use your "logic" and say that Deaf Village "there is diversity since there are BSL,Spanish, religion, etc."?

Lastly, DVTV never made clear on exactly which kinds of deaf/hh people are allowed in DVTV. So much for "tolerance" and "diversity."

Enjoy your DVTV.
