A Deaf Dog Gone Awry

While scrolling through the news this morning, I stumbled across this story:  http://www.mercurynews.com/news/ci_9565639

I guess now, we can only wait and see how long it takes before some group out there complains that the poor deaf dog is being treated unfairly and that the Oakland player is an audist...   ;-)

I'm assuming he probably bought the dog with the intent of it not only being a companion, but also a guard dog.  Kinda hard to guard against what you can't hear, huh?  Also, how's he gonna call for his dog when he's out of sight?  *waving hands* "Here boy! Here boy!  Where are you?  Darn dog is ignoring me again!"

But on the other hand (paw?) some good may come out of this....Doggy ASL!!!!  A new exciting breakthrough in ASL that does not require having opposable thumbs!  This dog may yet make the cover of "Deaf Dog International", resplendant in his torso-baring doggy sweater with the inscription "I'm not deaf, I'm just ignoring you".  Or better yet, he can go on to become the first deaf graduate of "Doggy Humping College", with a degree in "Sneaky Humps" and a minor in "Panting 101".

Just another look at a wacky news story...In all seriousness, for the money that he paid, I understand his frustration.....But I have to wonder, is he secretly guilty of "Deaf Doggy Audism?". Only time will tell....

;-)
