Thursday June 5, 2008
Rosiea2008 has shared her work story on the forum. It is a bit long, but what is intriguing is what she has to say about her experience (and others') with job coaches.

Job coaches treated Deaf/ HOH community like preschool children. I noticed some of job coaches looked at Deaf/ HOH people were not well prepared for any interview. Job coaches forgot some of Deaf/ HOH are already have college educated and more than 5 years job experiences. They still think we are like “Corey” from Life goes on TV Show. Sorry, I had to be very blunt and straightforward about Job coach.

I have exactly same situation as Rosiea2008. She is NOT alone. I believe there is more people are same situation as we do! I lost EVERYTHING. February 2005, I left the company for 9 years due to serious family emergency. I already have BFA degree and 18 years computer skilled. I am excellent personality and work ethic person BUT… VR, DHHS, Job coach and others treated me like WORSTEST of all like stoop us under Corey’s level.

I lost house, cars, saving account, children, divorced…. SSI are wasting my time to get benefit check for three years. I lost all the freedom. I am preparing myself to go under 6 feet under the ground.

Hey, You are so disrespectful and insecure person. You seem do not care what Rosie’s story. You are really focused on her ENGLISH instead of a plain and simple story!!!
She is human being like everyone. I bet one day you will go through same situation as Rosie’s. I USED to be like you while I worked for the company in 9 years like being egoism and arrogance. Until I left the company which I had to deal with serious family emergency. My world flipped upside and down big time and live through H E L L.

she is right the hearing community dose take advantage of the deaf in the work place. i lost my job in 2003 due to my hearing prob’s
i had to have surgery and they refused to keep my position open until i could return to work. i was told either my job or the surgery i had to give one up . so i gave up my job to have my surgery & i had a baha implant . since then i have not been able to work .
I am 90% deaf now and the baha is only used when needed. I am now disabled but i still feel i can work a part time job . but there far & few between . I am also looking for ASL classes so that i can learn to communacate when i do go totaly deaf . there is nothing here where i live in hopkinsville,Ky .if anyone as any ideas please feel free to email me @redneckwoman61@aol.com there is a group of about 8 people here that are hard of hearing or deaf and none of us know ASL . thats sad that we don’t have no one here to help us . as for roseia you go girl !!!!
you have a right to be heard just like the rest of us !!!!!!

To Julie B.,
Quit being disrespectful to the Deaf/HOH. Why don’t you think about about Rosie’s story instead of focusing on her English, or for anyone’s English (hearing or deaf).
Rosie is a human being, and quit getting such a big ego about her English.
