Robrief no. 1: Ohio-born Deaf carpetbagger to run for U.S. Senate for Kentucky
David Wylie, who was born in Marion, Ohio and graduated from Ohio School for the Deaf in 1988, then moved to Kentucky afterward, announced that he is running to become a Democratic U.S. Senator for Kentucky. This is his official campaign website, WylieforSenate.com and his short biography can be seen there. However, he is facing up against a crowded field of Democratic challengers, as seen here (scroll down below to “U.S. Senator” under Mitch McConnell - D, no relation to a certain Kokonut Pundit.
). Good luck to David Wylie! It would be great to have a deaf Senator someday.
Robrief no. 2: WFB, RIP.
I know it’s a day late but just wanted to acknowledge and salute the legendary conservative icon who died yesterday, William F. Buckley. He made that being conservative is nothing to be ashamed of and to be cool, unapologetic and bold. I picked out few of his best-known quotes for deaf conservatives out there:
“Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.”
“Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.”
“Liberals, it has been said, are generous with other peoples’ money, except when it comes to questions of national survival when they prefer to be generous with other people’s freedom and security.”
“Mr. Bush is in the hands of a fortune that will be unremitting on the point of Iraq. If he’d invented the Bill of Rights, it wouldn’t get him out of his jam.”
Heh.
R.I.P., Bill.
Robrief no. 3: Prince Harry in Afghanistan for 3 months (already)
Wow. Talk about best-kept secret: Prince Henry of Wales have been in Afghanistan for the past 3 months, serving with the British troops as part of NATO coalition operations. He even acknowledged thanking God for Drudge for the report. Could his brother, William of Wales, be joining up with him soon? Nothing is known or reported yet.

Rob,
Why you call David Wylie “carpetbagger” for running the U.S. Senate in Kentucky? More and more Americans are engaged in socioeconomic mobility like moving to another place beside their hometown or home state in the 90s and 2000s.
Nothing “carpetbagging” about Wylie’s run for the U.S. Senate in the Bluegrass State?
I do not see any postition papers of Wylie’s campaign what he stands on issue(s).
I wish David Wylie all the best within his U.S. Senate campaign.
I did consider about running for the U.S. Senate in Virginia this year to replace Sen. John Warner, but decided against it.
I prefer local politics than the national politics. My top priorities would be abolishing the federal fundings for CI surgery within the Medicaid program and other socioeconomic programs, etc.
I would issue the U.S. Congress to declare GWB, Rummy, Cheney and other GWB cronies “war criminals” for profiteering from the Iraq War, etc.

FYI,
That is Prince Harry, not Henry.

RLM, Mr. Wylie has been involved with the Kentucky Association for the Deaf as vice president. His running for the Senate is his first time but you’re right we have yet to see what issues he stands on for Kentucky. I’m sure he’ll come up with them soon.
When I first learned of this news, the word, “carpetbagger” come to my mind when mentioned of his Ohio upbringing before settling in Kentucky. It was all I could think of and I don’t know anything more about him.
