David Kurs and I are proud and excited to announce CalDeaf.com, a deaf events website for California. This wouldn’t be possible without Sprint Relay, who provided seed money for this project.
CalDeaf.com Features:
- Search function (Search for “social“)
- Search by month or day
- See today’s, this week’s or previous events
- Sort list by Northern or Southern California regions
- Anyone can add events
- Event pages can include videos, maps, and a photo gallery
- E-mail events to your friends
- Anyone can upload event photos–not just the event creator
- Comment on the event — either by text or video — and ask questions, if any
- Click to say “I’m going”. As the event nears, a reminder e-mail will be sent
- Sign up for notification e-mails announcing new events
E-mail addresses collected at CalDeaf.com will not be sold or shared, and we will not spam. We hate spam, too.
While we are launch-ready, David and I will be continually working on CalDeaf.com to make it the premier deaf events website of California.

You should reserve a nice generic multi-state domain name for when this goes big!

Dang, that’s pretty slick! Hopefully the site will take off, and can be used as a model for other states to use for their respective events.

Nice intro. Site operation philosophy is gonna need a lot of tweaking to make them different from the others.

Clever idea to put a new seed in order to set up the “Deaf Network.” Congratulations!
