ARE YOU AN OSTRICH?
This is analogy of whoever is not into deaf advocacy. For years there has been so many issues affecting the Deaf community. The hardest part is no one bothered to take responsibility for actions and provide support for advocacy. It is a serious issue that needs your input into advoacy for the deaf community. Apathy hurts the chances and the future of the Deaf community.
In the picture, an ostrich is sticking her head in the ground to avoid facing the issues. It was designed for local area and now it is nationwide and probably globally. We need active leaders to pursue our rights as deaf citizens.
Are you that ostrich?

Hi, Paul,
Yeah, I mentioned an organization needed for these such issues. Why don't we be team and discuss what we can do for this organization OR sub-committee(? due to company's policy might be conflict??)?
You up to it??
deafk from the v/blog, butterfly, like me...deaf
Is it burying your head in the sand ? Most deaf seem well aware of issues and very much informed, but still, not interested in going on the street to do anything about it.
When you go online to raise issue they appear out of nowhere and want campaigning to get moving, then step back again from getting involved. young people WON'T campaign, because they want fun, and mostly, berate older deaf as 'moaners'.
Older deaf 18 40 up want all the glory themselves, and don't support youth involvement. Oldest deaf simply shake their heads, "We campaigned for this ? they are doing nothing in reality but talking."

Hi Paul,
I interpret the drawing to mean that even though a person may or may not realize how bad those issues the small birds are trying to expose...they choose to keep head in the ground....
MM mentioned--negatively--that people say yes yes but then go back "not interested"...
I tend to believe that anybody can be INSPIRED to make changes like people I know (myself included)... I was (and still am at times and with some issues) an ostrich. Why? Because I didn't believe...even though I knew vaguely what the issues were... but especially because I didn't know what to do... AND I didn't feel it inside me, inside my guts, to JUST DO IT. For me, I tend to sit back for a while, studying, thinking, discussing before I gain confidence to go out. For others, they just know quickly and DO IT FAST! For others, they just need more time and reflection.
I guess we need to continually talk discuss try and try again and again and again.... and EVALUATE...
And yes, once many of us see the same things, and respect and care enough...change will happen.
