Only Democratic Candidates support captioning at Project readOn

I received an email from the ProjectReadOn.org founder. Here’s an interesting excerpt I’d like to share with you.

We caption a lot of Presidential Candidates’ website videos but all are currently Democrats. This is not by choice: They are literally the only politicians that have come to us. We have actively pursued Republican candidates to balance the site but none are interested in working with us to get their online videos captioned. So please don’t be upset if you feel the politics aren’t balanced – we have absolutely NO political agenda.

I am a Democrat. I respect Republicans. But as far as partisan quarrels go, how can you argue with this?

Equal Communication Access. It’s a no-brainer.

  1. Dear Mike McConnell,

Your time will be well-spent if you urge your favorite Republican candidates to caption their videos instead of picking on Eco-Deaf v/blog.

  2. Amen, Rene, amen! Paotie and McConnell, please urge your candidates to take advantage of this service instead of doing what you normally do.

  3. Many thanks for sharing this information - very good to know especially with the elections coming up… :)

  4. I love politics and get involved in DNC every four years! I am already exicted about Iowa and NH caucuses! Hope we will discuss more from now on. Tempus fugit!

  5. SOON IT WILL BE VOTE TIME IN NOV 2008 AND I WOULD LIKE TO READ MORE ABOUT PRESDENT WHAT THEY SUPPORT FOR DEAF FOR ADA LAWS NEEDS AND HEALTH AND LIVING BUDGET ANS ETC SO WE CAN HEAR MORE ON VLOG OR BLOG AND WE CAN MAKE DEICDE ON BLOG AND VLOG COLLECT VOTE FOR ALL OF DEAF PEOPLE IN USA SEE HOW MANY VOTE COMPAIR DIFFERENT PRESDENT WILL BE GREATEST. FOR ME I AM LOOKING FOR VOTE FOR HILLARY BECAUSE FIRST LADY PRESDENT WILL BE DIFFERENT THAN SAME SAME MEN. THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT KEYS TO VOTE FOR RUNNING IF ANYONE DEAF PERSON CAN STAND FACE TO FACE QUESTION LET US KNOW ABOUT IT HOPE HEAR SOON AND MAKE DECISON BEFORE NOV 2008 IF THERE IS NOTHING THEN WE WILL HAVE HARDEST DEICDE “WHAT IS BEST FOR US TAKE VOTE TO ?”

  6. i still don’t understand how such bright minds like paotie and mike advocate equal deafness/hood rights while having their bases with non-equal communicative republicans. Makes you wonder if they get high off the fact that they “think” they communicate so well that such extra access isn’t needed.

patting oneself on the back makes a very very funny imagery of a dog chasing his tail.

  7. That proves the Republican Party largely dismiss the deaf American community as potential vote-grabbers! How sad!

I am a registered independent so far. Let’s caption all speeches of any political spectrum regardless of particular party.

    Robert L. Mason (RLM)

  8. Thanks for sending this proof the Republicans don’t give a damned about my vote. :-)

  9. Republican Party?? Blah! Hooray, let us get Democratic presidental winner this time!! :)

  10. I am Independent, but I had to register as Democrat about ten years ago, Why? Because I was informed that any registered Independent cannot vote in primaries.
