Mary Dallas Herrold passed away

Mary Dallas Herrold (Mar 2007)
Apr 21, 1926 to Sep 21?, 2007

Mary Dallas Herrold (Herry), the Deaf Elder lady from the Elder interview vlog I've posted last March, had passed away in her home in Fremont last weekend. She was 81. After teaching at West Virginia School for the Deaf (her home state) for many years, Mary Dallas also taught at California School for the Deaf in Berkeley from 1975 to 1980 and in Fremont (when the school relocated) from 1980 to 1991 until her retirement. She remained involved with the Deaf community until the end.

A memorial service for Mary Dallas is pending for the moment.
UPDATE: Celebration of Herry's Life will take place at noon at Little Theatre at CSDF on Sunday, Oct 7th.

May there be eternal happiness in her reunion with her sister Janet Ann,
brother Bill, mother Catherine, and father William.

Some humorous excerpts from VP interview with the late Mary Dallas Herrold.
(September 14th, 2006).

"The Lighted Apartment"
Mary Dallas recalled fondly of what her blind mother, Catherine did when Mary Dallas was away on a trip with Harry and Helen Jacobs.

"Peet's Law"
Mary Dallas recalled two stories of Dr. Elizabeth Peet's (legendary Gallaudet hearing professor and Dean of Women) reign at Fowler's Hall during Mary Dallas' time as a student there in 40's.
