Scamming Deaf via SidekickThese days I have been both interested and disturbed by the creativity of scammers trying to get into my bank account, my credit accounts, and my communications. Some are truly scary...they even know my full name, my bank, and my address. I had set up a Facebook account to keep in touch with my kids, and this may be how the scammer got my info. Note: Facebook asks for your email account AND YOUR EMAIL PASSWORD (separately from the login password) to research for other people by hobby, location, school, occupation, etc. DON"T GIVE IT. Use a throwaway email account and password and give that instead. I work for a company that makes available on the Web, among other things, a public database with information on people, even their taxpayer status, marriage status, employment, criminal and court histories, and some other information I am afraid to ask about. This is a database for lawyers, business owners, credit agencies, and who else God knows. All it takes is as little as $24.95 and you can end up with more information on a person than you need to know. It wasn't the first time this scammer touched me. It came in by Sidekick as I was driving to work and read during traffic stops. ---------------------- 7:11 am ---------------------- SCAMMREPAYFBI: Hello, I am an FBI agent (Badge number W42315 US DOD DOJ 0042738 ). (this is the first time an ID was given. It is sure to be a phony one. Most police agents give names and locations of offices.) SCAMMREPAYFBI: I am an online helper for deafs. I was chosen by the Authority Ofiicer FBI to handle some cases like the internet fraud and internet scam activities. Have you been scam before? Or a Friend of yours got scam? If YES! talk to me here because we are going to pay you back whatever money collected from you today through western union money transfer service. Also some scammers have been arrested from Africa. mostly from Nigeria and now they are in JAIL.We have also paid back to about 650 deafs that got scammed. (The English pattern sounds foreign. Also no professional law enforcement person would talk like this.) SCAMMREPAYFBI: Hello D----------P--------- (used my real name, the bastard.) SCAMMREPAYFBI: SCAMMREPAYFBI: how are you doing? SCAMMREPAYFBI: Are you there? SCAMMREPAYFBI: Talk to me ---------------------- 7:22 am ---------------------- SCAMMREPAYFBI: HELLO (shifted to all caps, probably using a computer) SCAMMREPAYFBI: HOW ARE YOU DOING? SCAMMREPAYFBI: ARE YOU THERE? SCAMMREPAYFBI: TALK TO ME RIGHT NOW (now he's giving me orders.) SCAMMREPAYFBI: DO YOU UNDY WHAT I SAID? (doesn't he sound like a stupid cop now?)
