So tinnitus is weird. Or I’m going crazy. Don’t discount that idea yet. It can sound like all kinds of things. But for the last few days, it’s been an ongoing pow-wow — lightly strumming guitar, quiet war cries, like the end of large gathering under the stars. Embers slowly burning out in the fire. I can practically smell the burning wood. Perhaps my brain decided to just go along with the indian summer. Ideally, neat. But this thing has got to wrap up and move on to something else. I’m ready for the sweet sound of an out of tune radio — light rock mixed with station identification. Yes, that’s what it normally sounds like.

    I’ve lived with tinnitus for a long time I’ve grown to getting used to it like a drum beat in my life. Then I have to take a lot of niacin to control my cholesterol level and the niacin makes the tinnitus disappear. The silence after a long chapter of music in your head can be thunderous.

    My niacin doesn’t seem to really help. And I take a good lot of it myself. I wish I knew what the magic pill was. It’s partly lowering stress. And deep breathing. I probably need to start seeing an acupuncturist again.
