YLC ‘07, the beginning of the end.
This summer’ll be etched in all our minds, for it truly was an amazing experience for all.
It ended with an amazing end- the Banquet. Isabella Kogan did a wonderful job of transforming Leadership Hall into a memorable NAD YLC museum! Much laughter and tears (both mental and physical), occured throughout the night, for we did not only celebrate at the Banquet with a mouth-smacking meal of ribs, chicken, and more, but also had a poignant Candlelight Ceremony, and a beautifully conducted Slideshow with hilarious special effects, especially in short video clips. Bottom line, we lived throughout the entire month all over again together. A beautiful experience for 2007 NAD YLC.
One of the highlights at the banquet was naturally Dr. Frank Turk, a Father of YLC! He gave a powerful speech on how campers had the responsibility to divide AND expand leaders by BUILDING a group of leaders around each one of ourselves, not just stick with the other “leaders”. We all promised him and Jennifer Yost Ortiz, NAD Youth Programs Coordinator that we indeed would do just that this upcoming year!
And of course, we had to give out awards to campers that truly stood out, even though every single camper deserved recognition- those were the best of the best. Cheers to them and all the campers for doing wonderfully this session!
Awards given out:
Mr. and Miss Congeniality: Toj Mora from Texas and Lauren Benedict from Maryland
Most Improved Camper Award: Ashley Lockard from New York
Most Emerging Leader Award: Jackie Pransky from Massachusetts
All-Around Camper Award: Monica Keller from California
Best Cabin Awards: Cabins “Jr. NAD Boys” and “Trust”
