Just simply, BEAUTIFUL storytelling between the two of you. I just love it and I am *always* mesmerized by your ASL storytelling, the way you both pretty much start and finish each other's sentences/signs.

I just want to request that you make more vlogs, ok? Like maybe once a week! *smile*

Look forward to more more more ASL storytelling from you both.

Ha ha ha ha ha... it has been happening to us in years and years. it's very interest that ur parents are depend on coda to be interepter, wonder why can't ur parents write down on paper so that way it could be clearly than listen interpeter... I won't depend on my coda kids to interpter for me but it's my responsible to write to coummunation. but at the same time I think ur vlogs are so funny and always enjoy to watch ur vlogs anwyay....

You lied.

Your momma was dumb and blind to lipread.

Did you share the news with your mama?

raSometimes the things I wondered about my two crazy CODA siblings. They went through what my parents had made them interpret with the different services for years. I am sure that they had to deal with all of us. :-) Great vlog! keep them coming! I know many many were(are)still happening today. Ha!

Thumbs Up to you all from Deafster!! I know who the others are. Grins! I bet that the mother will laugh so hard rolling over the floor when she sees the video clip. why not get her to this if she has not seen it.

It's great you are also showing other CODAs to have fun with their dual membership in Deaf and Hearing communities in your entertaining vlogs.

I was half expecting you to switch the "interpreting" relationship and confuse the manager further!

Your parents must have had a memorable time raising you two nutcases, though. Keep up the vlogs!

you guys pur evil CODA interpreters but cool to share with us for stoy.

I love it......

Hey Boys!!!!

Oh I see.....Secret Codes and lied....but you both did a good job! That is what the teenagers are all about, however, it's rather than being a bully! *roll eyes* ;-)

My coda girls have learned how to use their secret codes in sign language. I have told them that I am not that stupid 'cause they will teach their friends to use the secret codes in sign language!

Humm, interesting, huh?

Hellllllllo! This is Ben, one of the 2 CODA BROTHERS. I hope you enjoyed this vlog! Reading all the comments always makes us feel warm and gushy inside, thanks for the positive feed back! I would like to make a comment about this vlog: Remember, we were 12-13 years old when this TRUE CODA STORY happened. This is a view of how young CODA's deal with being CODA's. TRUE CODA STORIES are the true stories about the unique way we grew up and how we dealt with being CODA’s. We know there are thousands of other CODA’s with similar stories-and we are sharing our experiences. Maybe you can think of it as our journey towards CODA-HOOD! Today, as adult professional interpreters, please know this: WE WOULD NEVER edit, change, lie, or mislead Deaf individuals in interpreting situtations. We ALWAYS follow interpreter’s code of ethics! With that said, watch it again, share us with friends, and visit us often! Smile.

Whoa! Watching your vlog and being a dad myself, I almost smack my son for nothing. Lol! keep up with more of your true stories.

Katherine said...

This sounds like my several CODAs in my family. One of them, in the 1950's, would interpret otherwise what teacher wanted to tell his parents, to get himself off the hook :)

Anonymous said...

LOL! I was not surprised at all! I believe that KODA sons did that a lot of times. I am wondering.. Did your friends ever tell you that you were lucky to have the deaf parent?

Gary Brooks said...

Oh damn I wish I could join you the wrestling that you did in the opening. anyway poor manager has no idea how your mother feel!!! hahaha. good story I loved it!!!

You guys insane intro, LOL! Oh yea, typical CODA's. I'm a DODA, so I know your gig. :)

mishkazena said...

What a riot! Not that I blame you cuz you were just a kid who shouldn't have been put in that awkward position.

Tell us, did your mother ever find out what you told that manager? I noticed you didn't answer that question earlier. Come on. Please tell us!! :)

Just love hearing those CODA stories. Helps me understand my kids a bit more. You should give a show sometime! Only problem for me is that hard for me to follow both when you talking at same time.

deafk said...

Ha, ha, ha, You CODA rock!!

CODA-HOOD, good point! Yeah...

By the way, my daughter, age 7, seems not to interpret straight! I have to tell her not to terp anyhow!! She wants to, but me say nope... Then I wonder ever what she would say to her peers' parents... I still wonder.. lol..

You guys are terrible!! LOL...

I already knew about change the saying in a nice way, I can understand that. I did catch my two teengers saying to someone, I told them that's not what I said! They were in a full of surprised! They realized that I can lipread (not always). After that, they won't do it again.

This is good one (laughing)

Yo Olson Bros,

You are hilarious as ever... I laughed and clapped and laughed and clapped and got out of my chair...I was so glad no one saw me. I can relate you guys. I am HOH but my parents always asked me to interpret for them.. I would change the wordings to talk nicely.. or polite..HA HA HA... I think it is the best thing to do because we are merely protect ourselves and our parents. What you did was the right thing to do! You were not certifiated interpter so you had a choice to talk what you thought was wise.

I love your storytelling.. more, more, more.. i want more, please....

Have a great weekend!

Hey guys, this was absolutely great and totally right on. But let me tell you, this happens between my husband, who is DEAF, and moi, who is 'HEARING-MINDED'. I don't know any other english word to describe someone who is deaf (or rather hard-of-hearing) and "signs hearing on forehead"....THAT! LOL!!!!

IamMine said...

Hey, you'd better answer the question!!

Or I'll make a vlog and tell others to vlog your parents...

:D

Dennis Bacon said...

Ben, your comment cracked me up because you said Ga to Sk. Vlog is not tty. LOL... I love your vlogs so far. Never DULL life!!! My kids are same thing. They sometime won't interpete what I said to people. They know I blunt many times. LOL..

Hello CODA Boys!

You are amazingly funny and great storytellers of your experiences in growing up with your Deaf parents. I love hearing your stories. I always look forward to seeing you again on the vlog.
By the way, did you mention that you have another brother, is he a Hearing or Deaf?
Happy Labor Day.

Whoa, what a good show since your first vlog in Olson Bros. Do your parents know what have you been through since then now? Sure, they smack on your faces doing like that! Please introudce your deaf parents into vlog telling abt their own kids of you. I bet she says, "Oh yes, thoses are my dearly sons" Be #8! Keep filming w/ ur parents to see what they say since your both childhood experience from them. They must be proud of you! You sign damned well in ASL. What if your hearing parents where you won't be here showing? Give your parents more thank-ful of kisses.

4 stars of my rating vote!

I found myself trying to read lips and watch the ASL at the same time at a frenzied pace! You as the Olson Coda Brothers duo are the most harmonized, energetic, and insane set of brothers! It's 2:15 am and I don't even need coffee, you guys pretty much keep me awake. Throw in a cheeseburger, and I'll finally go to bed!
