I didn’t think the MSCHE/Gallaudet story was big enough to headline anywhere, but it was on Yahoo!’s front page today. Here’s the article.
I’m not saying this is anything to be ashamed of, or that we should point our fingers to someone. Davila doesn’t think the probation is a bad thing in which his reasoning is quoted in the article, “it gives us an opportunity to change”. This is the beginning of Gallaudet’s recovery, and, having learned from the past, there is only the future to look toward.

I couldn’t find it online… can you please post the link? Thanks!
And no, the probation isn’t a bad thing. It just reinforces the protesters’ arguments that Jordan and Fernandes sent the University downhill.
Unity for Gallaudet.

Tayler,
This is a reflection on how hearing people really view us- as zoo animals to be studied or gawked at. It’s most unfortunate but it’s a cold & hard reality. Audism is everywhere, and small news like that make it big because of how we are viewed.
Best,
Erick

The story was on Appeal-Democrat’s front page too, as an AP news headline. Interesting to read what others are saying about the Gallaudet news.

It was in the L.A. Times over the weekend too… Hopefully we’ll have something positive from Gallaudet to share with the world soon…? I can’t imagine this is going to help the recruiters.

Erick,
Why are you blaming it on Audism?? Other universities do get placed on probation.
