Summary of the eight point policy
OAD's response to Ministry of Education's position on eight point policy
The rise of the Deaf Pride movement in the 1980s has introduced a distinction between deaf and Deaf, with the capitalized form used specifically in referring to deaf persons belonging to the community—also known as Deaf culture—that has formed around the use of American Sign Language as the preferred means of communication.

OAD President,
Thanks for the update of eight point policy. I am confidence in OAD and you as OAD President. I give my full support for OAD. I look forward to hearing from you about the update after the meeting in July.
Good luck!
Well Done!
I surely hope Ministry of Education (Ontario) will work with OAD to improve quality of education for all Deaf students.
As a former President, I want to congratulate you and your team to achieve your goals to get government's attention.
During my presidency of OAD in 1993, we got Ontario government to pass the law of ASL/LSQ as a language of instruction. Ever since, government has no action to develop regulation. That is 14 years with no action.
I hope regulation will be created ASAP.
Well done and congratulations!

Formerly OAD President
