Re: Status of trustee nominations
I want to personally thank everyone who has taken the time and interest to submit nominations to fill vacancies on the Board of Trustees. A number of nominations were sent to the Committee on Trustees, and everyone on the committee feels assured that, due to your help, excellent appointments will be made for these positions.

The Board of Trustees is making good progress on identifying potential trustees. In my report at the May 11 Board meeting, I stated that 52 complete nominations have been received to date. The Committee on Trustees wants to provide due diligence to this large number of prospective trustees in order to determine which of these individuals should be selected for interviews soon with President Davila and Board Chair Pamela Holmes. Therefore, I have asked that the Committee have more time to fulfill this important task. I have also asked that the nomination process be ongoing so the Gallaudet community and its supporters will always feel welcome and encouraged to submit nominations when they learn of a deserving individual.

Again, on behalf of the Committee on Trustees, I extend my appreciation for your enthusiasm in bringing the names and qualities of these individuals to our attention, as well as thank those individuals for their interest in serving on Gallaudet’s Board of Trustees.
Commentary: 52 nominations? That’s great that the BoT had received so many nominations that it is requesting for an extension. This shows how invested Gallaudet Community is in seeing that BoT gets good members. Asking for extra time shows their diligence in reviewing each nomination. I am hopeful that they will make choices leaving Gallaudet stakeholders feeling confidential. We definitely need people who is aware of the pulse running through Gallaudet. MZ
