30 04 2007ASL Video - Approx 5:00 Minutes Long
Grant W Laird Jr discussed about his experience with visual alarm (strobe alarm) at workplace. Basically he explained how much it evolved and improved over times with visual alarm at his workplace. Also, he talked about his pager which used as emergency message for drill or real one.
Does anybody have similar one at your workplace?

Yes. Been there. No fire alarm, but my work place got the signal system and I had to wear pager all the time so if something happens, the secretary has to remember to push the button in the signal system, so I could get alerted. My work place treated me very well, and fussed at me to use the pager all the times. I had to wear an alert pager and blackberry pager.
My Response about ADA at work
Hey.. Why didn’t you answer the phone when it rang!! haha!
Imagine that my work environment doesn’t have the alert system! My secretary or colleagues are the one to alert me when it happens. My company is so small!
We have flashing strobe lights at work. That’s good. My employers are serious about following ADA guidelines. Most hearing people prefer not to hear the screaming sirens.
At my workplace, there are many flashing strobe light detectors in every room and hall. In addition, I have an alerting pager from my school secretary, but the pager does not work well. I guess that the pager is very cheap and it is easily broken. I do not use that pager often. I am fortunate that I am working in a public school system, where it is under the federal and state laws, to provide almost everything to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees.
