  1. Hi Ron, You still look good! I do not understand how it got in this big mess by trying to fool all deafies to show their support to SLCC but it will not happen. We must show them that we do cherish our first language ASL.

I got a letter today and you are 100% right. Keep your strong voice!

    Smile, Debbie Floyd

  2. Well done! You have helped us analyze between the lines and implications. Many thanks!

  3. Ron, I really want to thank you for bringing this out in open. Many people are thanking Amy Cohen Efron, which is good, but I feel that you deserve this as much as Amy does. So THANK YOU very much!

Who was the brainchild behind SLCC? It is so disappointing and hurtful to read that they are asking us to donate money that will primarily go to speech/hearing instead of ASL. Who is really working with SLCC? We need to find these key leaders and demand answers from them and make sure that they make ASL a primary importance for SLCC.

    Michele

  4. I received same as you did. I looked thru and I checked www.gallaudet.edu on SLCC. There are several DEAF people on the floor plans?!?

Dwight Benedict? John Dickinson? Bahan? I was told that John was “an expert” with floor plan but?!? Poor decision!!!

  5. Hi Ron!

It’s been ages! Good to see you being a muckraker for Gallaudet! Somebody got to do the dirty laundry, heh?

Anyway, thanks so much for elaborating your perspective on SLCC’s propaganda! After viewing Amy’s vlog, I was craving to get more information about what really went on behind the scene and bingo, your vlog poured in more details. All I can say is that I am sick to my stomach. For Sorenson to sponsor a building that focuses on the so-called visual language and auditory training, it spells CONTRASTION! What the hell are they thinking? For those who are involved in planning on erecting the building are clueless!

I am looking forward for more details cuz I am ready to cut off Sorenson and switch to hovrs from now on. Also I will halt my contributions to Gallaudet for SLCC.

  6. Hey Ron
You made the valid point. And thanks for letting us know. I never receive the postcard but am sure I will get it anytime. I will not donate any penny until Gally recognized ASL as language and change the vision! We have to do something!
Hope to see you next month!

  7. Same thing here that I received a postcard from Gally, now, I understand this clearly after I saw you on this vlog. First time I saw Amy Choen on blog, I did not realize about ASL so I can see this point, where is ASL. I am not planning to make any donation to Gally need a new floor for SLCC, but I am not satisfied with them since they did go ahead to establish a goal to build new one for SLCC without any specific details deeply what they will plan to do for deafs\’ future. I agreed with you about \”where is ASL\”. Keep all of us posted! Thanks!

  8. “During a series of meetings that have taken place over the past three months between stakeholders, plans for the interior space of the three-level building were refined after reviewing several sets of floor plans. The SLCC’s first floor will include the ASL and Deaf Studies, Communication Studies, and Linguistics departments, computer labs, classrooms, a student media center, a faculty lounge and an amphitheater; the second floor will house the clinic for the Department of Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences (HSLS), HSLS staff offices, and classrooms; and located on the third floor will be the History and Government and Sociology departments, HSLS faculty offices, and computer labs”

I got this from www.gallaudet.edu — Ron do you know anything about this?

  9. So if that is the case then why didn’t the hell they mention ASL in the postcard?!

We need to find out more about who makes the decision about the wording on the card and the real intention behind this building.

  10. HI Ron, i see u again on video. U are right about ASL. I grew up with hearing family. I learned part of SEE in my former school till i enrolled Gally prep. I picked up their ASL. ASL is soo absolutely right key for all of deafies. That is where ASL comes from deaf families but not always from deaf familes. I use ASL alot lately. ASl has alot of expressions and pictures.
Oh yeah, ASL must keep in DEAF Culture. I don’t need to use snobby or fantasy words to put them in this message.
Myself can lipread and talk because my mother strongly believes that i can do talking and lipreading. I thank her for that. But i still goes for ASL…..Smile!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will look forward to hearing from u again…..

  11. Would you please kindly post all pictures and written message from the SLCC postcard?

I never receive anything from the Gallaudet Development Unit which I did not join the GUAA.

That’s how the Gallaudet Development Unit get the addressess of Gallaudetians thru the GUAA alumni registry.

  12. Hey Ron again! Shame on Gallaudet trying to fix deafness.. Clerc was the one who taught Gallaudet sign language and it has spread for years and years.. Sad to see that ASL is being denied a place in Gally ’s history. Hey remmy we are deaf not hearing!! Fight for ASL ! Dont give up. I dont think I will give a cent to SLCC either !

  13. the link slcc is currently down???

  14. ron
thank you very much for your diligent efforts.

this is a very important issue and worthy of re evaluation of the role that ASL plays on campus as compared to others..

    thanks again-
