So far I've counted about 5 out of several Super Bowl commercials that have not been captioned since the game began, but not counting the customary network commercial promotions (usually never the case for the network promotions of TV shows). Very disappointing.
The recent Coke commercial, which is a completely 3D computer generated animation, is not captioned. That's odd because Coke commercials have always been captioned in the past.
Keep counting the non-captioned commercials in the Super Bowl if you're still watching by the time I blogged this.
UPDATE 7:31 pm: Now it's 8 commercials with no captioning so far.
UPDATE 8:00 pm: 13 so far. :( Although few commercials have musical themes played as the background music or have no voiceover narration (like Coca Cola's celebration of Black History month commercials).
UPDATE 10:00 pm: 23 commercials out of several commercials broadcasted for the Super Bowl XLI ended up having no captions at all. I could miss few as either I was out of the room or in the bathroom.
The real winner has been those clever CareerBuilder.com commercials. It's hilarious on every level. The Budweiser commercials were comically funny or cute. A couple of Coke commercials with 3D animation were fantastic, even without captioning. The one with the guy putting quarters into the Coke machine and everything inside went into the factory-lined production, chilling and distribution, with fireworks and parade, of a bottled Coke at the end was every bit fantastic!
