I am concerned about it because I don’t have any information about SLCC. I wonder if it’s possible for anyone to expand information about SLCC. I am very uneasy if SlCC’s intention is to fix Deaf people. It will give wrong message to society. We need to make sure NAD and Gallaudet University that they will protect Deaf culture and ASL. Gallaudet University has no intent to fix Deaf people but to expand their language as ASL and as a fully Deaf productive human being.
We should call for an emergency meeting with the GUAA and Concerned Citizens of Gallaudet University and FSSA to request for the temporary halt on the construction of the SLCC!!! Until everything iron out with such concerns regarding the SLCC floor plans for departmental units design.
I already asked you few weeks ago. No responses! Time for the real action!!
No questions about Paul Kelly running the whole show with the SLCC! We could dispatch several architecture experts to examine the existing building design whether nobody cut the corners - shoddy building materials (cheaper quality) and building design flaws.
The SLCC should be designed flexibily to accomodate the future expansion or prompt department relocations, etc.
I am no archiecture expert myself. I have not reading any building materials list firsthand or examine the blueprint itself. I could detect any building flaws as what happened with the Student Activity Center (SAC) and addition to the Field House.
I could see numerous flaws of the adjacent expansion to the Field House right away when I see the completed building for very first time.
Please schedule an emergency meeting or get the court order to halt the construction of the SLCC on temporary basis til everyone is on the board for the building design of the SLCC. We really could do it!!
How did this happend to divert from true spirit and pride of being deaf and communicating in a language that America can be proud of, ASL. I am concerned of pathological view toward deaf people in displays. Maybe they say it is for history, but I don’t believe it. Sad that the former admin. let this happen. Communicate and review with committee and emphasis that there is more to Deaf Life than just being defined as medical curiousities. Deaf people go to Gallaudet to thrive as people, not to be dissected as conditions.
Ron, thanks for your keep checking at SLLC for us all. I agreed with you that SLLC is not Center, it’s a clinic. Not worth to go clinic all the times because clinic will be so deadly BORING and learn NOTHING!
MJ needs to stay in SLCC to protect and guard our ASL values! There no way for MJ to get herself out of there by letting ASL and global Sign Language died there!
