Jordan has been known for his delusional disorder not since he became president of Gallaudet but since he joined the faculty as a professor of pscyhology at Gallaudet in 1970s. I did not support him for DPN.
Ron, excellent vlog post! I wrote a post last night about the absolutionist post. (http://deafphilosophy.wordpress.com/) I don’t know of any organization or group that are absolutionist in the sense Jordan defined.
People may have absolutionist ideas, but that doesn’t mean Jordan can identify a select few individuals as absolutionists, especially when none of the individuals are together in a single group.
There was not a single group that can be defined as absolutionists, in the same sense that you could identify the Black Panthers as radicals. If we asked IKJ who this group is specifically, we wouldn’t get an answer but get some names thrown out and I am sure all of these names wouldn’t even be in the same group nor will agree with each other. This absolutionist concept should be debunked and serve as another continuing black eye to the already tarnished legacy of IKJ.
IKJ overstayed his welcome at Gallaudet University. Unlike many other university presidents, IKJ is not too attractive in any other university for intellectual discourse. His article, Deaf Culture and Gallaudet, should have been in The National Enquirer. I’m just sorry that The Washington Post lowered its standard by allowing someone to publish such an article like IKJ’s.
Like I said on my blog, IKJ is simply a sore loser and just had to retaliate for the loss of legacy that he cherished and was proud of. The protesters destroyed that and they had to pay for that in his eyes, and he knew his words carry weight with Washington Post readers. He is a strategist.
The deaf community at large keep getting stronger and stronger from IKJ and JK’s status quo, cronyism and management by imiditation.
That is a real wake-up for the rest of deaf community that our beloved culture and way of life have been sleathly assaulted by someone, who truly do not appreciate the existence of deaf people and their language use.
IKJ ought to watch the DVD - “The Madness of King George” 90s film and learn to do something constructive than dissecting the deaf community at large from time to time.
Absolutionist is deaf vocabulary and doesnt exist in Merriam-Webster dictionary (http://m-w.com) in fact it is absolution instead. it means to absolve from sins….
The english word is “Absolutist”. see below copied from m-w.

Ron,
I agree! Jordan stayed as president much too long and somehow the experience warped his mind.
