How many of you hate slow loading sites? DeafRead is easily one of the fastest websites I’ve built. With articles now surpassing the 100 count, the site has not slowed down the slightest. Go ahead and click across pages, they seem to flash before you.
Jared and I are big on optimizing to offer the best experience possible. There are several factors involved. There are speed factors that we can control, others that we cannot. We cannot control how fast your connection or computer is, for instance.
DeafRead uses 100% CSS, has only 5 images of which totals at just 8.87kb (yes, I calculated!). We were able to achieve this, we believe, without compromising visual aesthetics.
On the more technical level, we took extra steps to ensure every query was well-written for performance. (Queries are statements that are sent to the database to retrieve or write information.) Lastly, our RSS file is static, rather than being created dynamically (in other words, created every time the file is requested).

Hi,
Great job at DeafRead.com (the domain is brilliant!) and I would like to see streamlined look regarding those tiny stats such as date, views, etc.
they look a little bit crowded.
More white space won’t hurt, too.
just my two cents.
