  1. Yes, yes, yes! I worked in Visitors Center at Gallaudet for two years, 1984-86. It always embarrassed me when international Deaf visitors asked why even Deaf professors signed and spoke at the same time at Gallaudet. Many of these visitors became disappointed if not discouraged. I knew exactly what you meant when you compared Gallaudet to the zoological park where the gift shop is. Many people had, and still have, high expectations about Gallaudet University as a place where ASL is.

  2. Well said! I agree with you that Gallaudet really need to take a leading role in promoting ASL in our world. Once Gallaudet set their ASL standards (with help of ASL experts), K-12 Deaf schools and programs will be able to follow Gallaudet’s standards. And that means Gallaudet’s enrollment will grow. And the professor’s signing skills will increase too. Gallaudet has a responsibility to make a huge impact by saying ASL is very critical in our Deaf children’s future!

  3. In other word:
Gallaudet Institute for the Deaf Mutes

    Would our Congress support?

  4. I fully support the idea of having like ASL center at Gallaudet… But, remember in one of your VLOG a long time ago you mentioned about ASL received something like $200K while Audiology Center received $1.2M something. That’s the main issue of Gally not having ASL Center … MONEY…

HOPEFULLY, at this new SLCC (whatsoever the name is called, due to ahh, not at least 51% donated money :-) ), there WILL BE ASL CENTER on the ASL Floor.

Hopefully, with Dr Robert Davila, ASL will receive more money in donation or whatever to establish ASL Center and expand ASL Department along with CSALL (to make ASL language courses like English courses).

    Well, enough for now…

  5. Yeah, I fully support about idea of ASL Center at Galllaudet University and need to show ASL Center to World.
FOr an example, when I came to Gallaudet in 1992, I was an international student and at the first i thought that Gallaudet must be excellent university and ASL to me. However it was not true. It was looking to me as zoo at Gallaudet because there were so many different than I expected. Eventhough I was so happy that I did not withdrawal from Gallaudet University. I made decision to meet various people from different states and learned different ASL. I learned what the ASL and deaf cultures are so important to me. SO I did graduate from Gallaudet in year of 2002. I am thanksful to my severals friends who taught me.

Yes, Hopefully with Dr Robert Davila, ASL will receive more money from donation and better development to establish ASL Center to the WORLD. We pray to get better ASL center and ASL Department along CSALL!… :-)
