Update on College Hall closing and Brentwood Gate

Early this morning a large number of protestors took over College Hall, chaining the doors shut. After the protestors left the building on their own accord, Department of Public Safety [DPS] officers on the scene cut the chains and reponed the building.

Also this morning, DPS and Physical Plant employees opened the electronic gate at Brentwood Avenue. They used a front loader to remove tents, tarps, and other material that were blocking the entrance way. Some of the protestors resisted DPS' efforts to open the gate and were injured, though none seriously. In particular, one protestor's toe was cut and had to be treated by a D.C. EMT team called to the scene. Another protestor went to the hospital [not in an ambulance]. His condition is not known at this time.

At this time, the Brentwood Gate is open to foot traffic, but protestors' vehicles continue to block the entrance.
