Ryan, Chris, and Delia Speak Out
Ryan confirms what happened ay the mssd gate. 4 confirmed injuries. 8
pm rally at marketplace.
Chris: the special police and dps physically abused the students by
shoving them and kneeing them. They don’t care what happens to this
university. We do. We need to step up and say “enough is enough.”
They’ve broken agreements. They are spitting in our faces and the dc
police force’s faces. Someone could have been killed by what they did
this morning. Wqe have no guarantees for our safety. We must protect
ourselves and support each other. JK must resign, IKJ must leave, BoT
must be here now. We have people starving for our school while others
get abused. We must stop the adm from controlling us.
Delia: they burned the gates open and now they can’t even be closed.
Now the mssd gates are open for anyone to come in. The students are at
risk. Stop being neutral and ignorant. Stay together and help heal
this university. Tell your teachers to come out here, cancel class.
We’re concerned about the elementary students and high school students.
It’s our university. Be at the 8 pm meeting. We can do something.
Chris: MSSD and KDES students- they know not to be out of control. They
marched together this morning, arm-in-arm. They saw the abuse and were
shocked. These young innocent kids saw security guards assaulting
students. Do they feel safe now? No. Everyone needs to step up. I
know there are issues, but you know this university is no longer safe.
They need to leave. They are cold-hearted and have nothing left inside
their souls.
Ryan: I know emotions are running high and that can lead to negative
actions. Just make sure you control your anger. I know you’re enraged,
but I’m proud of you. Despite what happened, not one student has
physically fought back. I applaud you. Control is our strength.
They’re callist us a mob, anarchists, terrorists. They’re the mob now.
Keep yourselves under control. Tonight 8 o’clock at marketplace.
Chris: (unity for gallaudet chant) we have a sense of unity here that
they cannot break.

This was a stupid tactic on the administration’s part. This will only stir up the protest, and anger people - with a BOT meeting scheduled for this weekend at which Fenandes fate could be decided. They would have been smarter to do nothing and let the cold and boredom thin the ranks of the protest. This was happening already.
The worst thing the protesters can do now is make a violent response. That will lose all the gains this stupid action has given them. Make all efforts to be non-violent and peaceful. Be self-disciplined. Saying “they shed the first blood” as though that now justifies shedding blood yourselves is not disciplined. Shedding blood is never justified. If you do it, you will lose in many ways.
I agree. There was no need to do a pre-emptive action because the BoT was coming this Sunday. I don’t understand the DPS’s reaction as the 6th gate was open.
The students were taken by surprise as they were sleeping, with no warning given in advance. That only made things worse, I think. Especially if there was a breakdown in communication between the guards and the students
I truly believe this comment was made in anger. However, there is no advocacy for violence on the students’ side.
VERY DISGUSTED WITH THE ADMINSTATION OF GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY
HOW I K JORDAN HANDLES THE PROTEST.. FIRE HIM FIRE HIM HE HAS NO RESPECT FOR DEAF COMMUNITY..
JANE FERNANDES MUST GO GO GO GO GO… HOPE FOR GOOD NEWS FROM BOT THIS WEEKEND TO CHEER US ALL UP… HOPE WE WILL NOT SEE THEM IN SLC UTAH IN FEBRURARY SMILE AND FIGHTER
STUDENTS,
DON’t GIVE UP! Stay strong…keep fighting until JK resigns with peaceful and no violence! I am deeply proud of you!!
BOT must come to campus today! This is beyond crisis!
on watch round the clock..
The protesters need to have at least 2 on watch guard duty constant and in rotation.
Plus the protesters need to rebuild the gate quickly.
Keep your cool, guys, and remain peaceful. They are provoking you to fight back thus giving the administration ammunition to order more drastic measures. Only when the dumb cow becomes president, if ever does, and the University seem lost you can all burn it down because either way the dumb cow will destroy it.
This is ver very serious. If you have on video a bulldozer going over a tent that could have been full of deaf students, I call that potentional murder.
Students could have died here.
Someone needs to call the Washington DC police to come in and protect the students from the DPS goons!
Check my blog in which I expressed my anger at IKJ, JKF, and Brenda Brueggemann.
http://kansas4fssa.blogspot.com
My heart is broken and bleeding for the protestors and FSSA. I wish I am back on the campus to hug them all and give support. Damn
Who authorizes DPS and special police to do that? Why? I think they should not work for Gallaudet because they are heartless. They should be arrested for assulting students and cause violent on campus. Yes it is important to control your anger but it makes everybody mad. Do not Give up.
I agree with “anomyhmous please” above. we cannot rationalize their use of force and then come back with force. That will just allow them to say they are justified. Instead…
Let the lawsuits begin. Every student who was assaulted, either by pipes or trash being thrown on them, every student who was ‘touched’ has a cause for ‘Battery”. Lets go to the lawyers who are helping and start swearing out legal complaints. Make Gallaudet PAY real money for damages. IF it was a PPD person who touched a student. they are not covered as a protected class of law enforcement personnel and you can sue the pants off of them. If a DPS car even touches you in trying to get you to move. that is assault with a vehicle.
They’re trying aggressively to take control of the situation before BOT comes back & sees a campus STILL in turmoil - proof that Calamity Jane & Co. cannot control “her” campus.
If the turmoil lasts that long, all the BOT needs to do is look out the windows & vote no confidence in Jane. Then, its’ “dingdong, the Witch is dead!”
I am appalled. I am shocked. I am speechless at this senseless tactic of the Gally Administration. Truly…They are, indeed, provoking the simmering fire by stoking the ashes into a roaring fire. They want to see you react. You need to continue the silent and non-violent protest.
You need to be strong and know that you have THE WORLD at your back. We may not be visible, but WE ARE HERE. I AM HERE. I am in Michigan, but I have been reading and following all along. I have been doing my share contacting my fellow congressman, sending emails, posting on blogs, sharing the news, attending the FSSA Rally in Flint (Tent City), and being among people. I do support proactive measures.
Keep videorecording everything for evidence, if needed.
RC, hang in there….
You have come so far, yet, the road head is unforseen, twisting and turning. Do band together as peacefully and chalk it up on the board, but do not react or retaliate.
I am truly sorry and saddened to hear fellow students injured and I will say a prayer for them. Be strong….silent. You will reap far more rewards in the long run…
Smiles,
Michelle
The gates have to be opened. Don’t tell me there was no warning. There have been plenty of warnings that the gates have to be opened. Protest. Protest peacefully all you want. Don’t go to class. Engage in discussion, teaching, learning and dissent. But the university must keep buildings and gates open.
I couldn’t believe that the administration would allow this to those students and cause turmoil for the protest. That really made me turn my stomach upside down. For you all, keep the unity strong and we will make through this! We all are with you all the way in person and in spirit!
This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE behavior on the administrations part!!!! If one of the four injured were my son/daughter, you bet I would slap Gallaudet with a LAWSUIT!! I am VERY upset at my Alma Mater!! HOW EMBARRASSING that they are scooping down this LOW!!!! They are not PROFESSIONALS at all!!!! They have committed too many crimes now!! When will it END!!!!!!!
I wish I can be there to help you all. I think DPS should go to jail.
i was at gally for a week. i am ashamed of IKJ….. FIRE IKJ… must fire IKJ… i contacted one BOT member to fire IKJ. he is destroying gally… he is destroying our future leaders, teachers, etc.. he will destroy many more of them. we have to stop this crazy man.
hi
i heard what happened w the protest @ our mssd gate today. unfortunately i was at gally doing my junior interning. seniors told me they all decided to march.
look at mssd gate, gally & mssd cafe for our posters…
we are with you fSSA!!
the eagles flies with the bison!! (2008 quote made by fellow students)
gallaudet, mssd & kendall, keep up the strength!
It’s really horrible. What’s worse is how unremorseless they are. They haven’t expressed concerns about students who got hurt. Zilch. Nada. DPS and PPD were acting on an order, but whose, that we don’t know yet.
I think the students have already reported the incidents to the police. I am sure the pictures and the videotapes will be used as evidence.
These past months, I have been silently following the events at Gally, the very school that holds my dreams and aspirations for the future. It is saddening; it breaks my heart that this raging storm is getting out of control. We the deaf in Africa are solidly behind the tenets of justice and fairplay. We believe in the right to be heard. Our destiny is in our hand. Since Gally rejects JK, we join force with the deaf world to call for her resignation. A word is enough for the obstinate, after all pride goes before a fall!
LEU.
I feel so digrusted. I’m shocked & speechless to know how IJK, and JKF let DPS do anythings to destory everythings belong to protest’s and decide go ahead to assaulted them without any damn warning. Which really unnecessary do that, and I really hope will have REMOVE 3 of them soon as possiable. Because it really ENOUGH is ENOUGH have us got gained worse & hurting heartbroken everydays! I very lookin’ forward to hearing the good news sometimes this weekend!
The protests, I really very proud of yall keep under control while that happened and keep strenght. I applaud yall:0) KEEP THAT THE PRIDES! WE ARE UNITY OF GALLAUDET and NOT THEM!!!!
