Endless Pondering

DPS, Stop Hurting The Students

At least four students, were reportedly injured during the scuffle when the DPS attempted to open the Brentland Ave Gate. An inside source claimed to me that DPS didn’t sign during their attempts to open the gates.

Deja vu

During the attempted HMB raid, DPS didn’t communicate with the students and injured them . We can see on the videotapes during that raid that the DPS pretty much didn’t sign.

Haven’t they learned a lesson from that unfortunate experience?

Seriously the DPS must communicate with the students. Not only is it the law and the campus brochure claims open communication is practiced. With the reports we are receiving, it is blatantly obvious that open communication isn’t practiced as alleged.

One gate has been  open for days: 6th St Gate to permit the Gallaudet people to come in and out.

  1. Communication sort of defeats the whole idea of pushing aside the student protesters occupying the gates, eh?

  2. King and JK and DPS are sick to my eyes. We must do something! They have no respects for us! JK resigns now! It is getting too much!! Students come here for education. Adm has no rights to do that as to create the most horrible hostile environments! No more colonize on us, Deafhood!

  6. Well they are technically blocking a public entrance - and after watching videos of students not moving during some lockdown it is understandable why DPS and Gallaudet would approach this method. Im nto saying I advocate it but you have to look at history - lockdown after lockdown, blockade after blockade - they probably said enough is enough.

  7. Jk must resigns now! before its gettin worse. King, JK, and DPS have no respect and what they have done to all of you in awful ways. Also, that is a not leadership! They are no leadership for deaf community because they have no communication with the protests just because they are afraid to control over 1,000 protests they just only want to do simple things instead of control them you know?

  8. Communication as in sign language so the students will understand what the DPS are saying.

Billy,  there is one gate, 6th St, that is still open and the people are able to enter and exit freely through that gate.  Personally I don’t understand why Jordan decided to do this, in the light of BoT meeting this incoming Sunday. He could have wait and let BoT resolve this situation. Unfortunately, due to their unwise decision, not only the students but the whole community are outraged at the violence of DPS toward the students and the resulting injuries.  This is a bad move on Jordan’s side  because it has given Jordan a black eye in the media. MPD is there taking reports from the students.

  9. The BOT meeting is probably why it happened. Jordan & Fern want to be able to point out the window @ this special BOT meeting & say, see, we CAN control our campus. Protesters are GONE.

I’m a peaceful man, and way too old for physical stuff, but, I swear, I have no idea how the protesters are controlling the rage they feel. I’m having a hard time controlling MINE.

  10. It is impressive how the students restrained themselves.

This fiasco adds another heavy black mark against Jordan and Fernandes.
